Associate Pay at UAE SWFs
Hey guys,
I was approached by couple recruiters with roles at various SWFs in the GCC region. Just wanted to check if someone has any info regarding pay at the following funds:
- ADQ
- ADIA
- Mubadala
The recruiter for ADQ mentioned AED40-60k range for an associate with 50-70% bonus.
Any info would be appreciated!
You're telling me they quoted you $10-15k USD base salary? Are you missing zeroes?
Monthly figures mate
Mind sharing which recruiters?
ASP covers ADIA.
Apologies, can't seem to find them. Mind linking the website?

From a few years back:
Jeez, guess I need to move to the UAE.
Just curious, is this for Associate role at ADIA?
REPE, yeah.
thanks. guess you didn't take the offer, but would you know how much at a senior associate / VP role?
What is expat allowance?
If I have 2 years experience in uk and if I done Oxford mba.... it is possible to get 55k aed per month in Asia for associate role?
Is this still the norm? I don’t think so but would be great of someone can confirm. Thanks!
Yeah, and you don't pay US income tax on the first $100k+, and can usually exclude housing expenses/allowances too (idk if that's changed). Rough range of total comp was $330-440k USD, and this wasn't that recent.
Holy crap UAE looking better and better every day
Anyone has any info on pay/promotion progress at these SWFs? Can most people who are willing to stay in middle east be promoted to MD level or are most people stuck at VP level?

I’m aware all in for base and bonus (excluding housing and misc.) you are looking at around $250-280k a year. This was quoted to me this year
Did you take it? What sense of WLB did you get?
Also how competitive are these seats?
This was for associate level?
Can you DM me? Thanks
Was this for ADIA? And associate or senior associate?
Bump
Is this for associate 1?
Does QIA pay in line with ADIA / ADQ ?
ADIA no, ADQ unsure. Plus ADIA may ramp more than QIA over the years
Pay in ME SWF is ADIA > ADQ = QIA?
Hey, any insight on WLB at these funds?
Also, what about less known funds such as Emirates, Investment Corporation of Dubai etc?
I heard WLB at the bigger ones (ADIA, QIA) is pretty good. Not sure about the SWFs of Dubai
Glass door reviews of ADIA read awful...
hey chimps!
Does someone know about the interviews / lifestyle at ADQ? Also what is the difference between “alternative investments & M&A team” and “direct investment team”?
Thanks in advance!
Alternative investments & M&A is their conventional private equity team which also handles in-house M&A for the portcos. I'm not sure about the other team - that may be VC?
Interview is pretty straightforward and includes a very short LBO model which is practically done for you. was pretty far along the process until the team completely ghosted me + the headhunters they were working with. wouldn't really recommend this gig - cio reiterated that they crank a ton (even at his level). mentioned that there are 10+ IC's every week (new investment + in-house M&A) spread across a very lean deal team which largely comes from Abraaj.
Does anyone know how the process is structured at these places?
bump
I went through the ADIA process, definitely do not recommend it. It’s comprised of:
- Multiple Early Check ins with Headhunters
- First round
- 3 hour modelling case study with unclear instructions that had multiple errors which really throws you off
- 12 “second" rounds so you can meet the entire team, for this one they're supposed to fly you out but instead made me do 3 virtual interviews a day over a course of 1.5 weeks from 4-7am given the time differences, was absolutely awful especially when you're working in IB
- 1 final round with the Arab national running the operation
At the end they didn't give me an offer, but I was so frustrated with this 3 month process that I had lost complete motivation. Joining ADIA as an associate likely stagnates your career anyways so that's a silver lining here. Having said that, the benefits and tax free income is really attractive so kudos to anyone that makes it through that hell.
Yeah. I applied for a generalist role in the region and had infra model thrown at me with mistakes in Opening BS.
Lol had same experience
Thanks. Do you know how much they are paying?
all in $250k? tax free because I am Canadian + housing, car allowance, and other benefits.
Crazy money
Thanks! Housing is in the 250k?
Any updated numbers on comp?
Updated since Feb this year? No update bro
Are these quotes for US-based roles or in UAE? I had a recruiter reach out from one of the original firms listed, ultimately didn't pursue as comp was not impressive, NY based, and from discussions with others I got the vibe that unless you're Middle eastern and speak the language, you'll be a second class citizen re: promotions / exposure / etc.
How much would total comp package look like for VPs and directors?
How do they compare to PIF?
Any color on what the contracts for expats in the public funds are typically like - fixed term (how many years?) or permanent?
Usually 1-3 years but these are generally automatically renewed
