How Does Recruiting Work?
Hi All,
i am confused on how buy-side recruiting.
i am aware I need to know how to model, aware I need to know paper LBOs, technicals and have my behaviorals down.
but what portion am I missing? They say I need to demonstrate investor acumen? How do you do that? What do you say? Where do you learn this? Can someone give a brief overview of the process?
thank you

Two areas you might be missing. First is that a super important part of PE interviews is talking about the deals you worked on in IB. Pretty much every interview you'll be asked about deals on your resume. This is an area where you'll be able to demonstrate investor acumen, so try to put on your investor hat vs. banker hat when talking about them. Be able to explain why the deal made sense for a buyer, what would the thesis be, risks, valuation thoughts from buyer perspective. Be able to think critically about the deal, not just salesy.
Another area is many firms will have you do a case study round. You may be given an old CIM and asked to think about it from an investment perspective.
