Hello monkeys,
An opportunity has presented itself to make the move to NYC from MCOL (which I have wanted to do) for an AM role at a big shop. I’m currently in a role (1.5 YOE) where I am learning a ton and genuinely developing as a professional. Is it worth taking the risk and moving to a new role (comp similar)? My exits will be similar from both, but likely better in NYC. Let me know your thoughts!
I moved to NYC in January, and it has already been one of the best experiences I have ever had
As a follow up to this do I need to worry about leaving with less than 2YOE? At the analyst level I don’t think it matters as much but just another thing to factor in.
No. That's actually pretty common in RE. I see tons of people that only stayed 1 - 2 years at their first stint
Do it. My biggest regret was not getting into NYC during the pandemic, and I am now stuck with a family in an HCOL city but not NYC. Do it, networking is what you make of it. As long as the job pays enough to still afford the things you want in life.
