Yeah that should be fine. I have seen that on a number of resumes, mostly from Asian people that have names that are difficult for US natives to pronounce.

 

Yes, that is done, aside from previous posters example of foreign names, I have seen it in maybe, rough estimate, 1-2% of resumes and it doesn't seem to have any deleterious effect.

 

I would most definetely interview someone who put "David 'big-d'Smith. He would come in, and we would analyze him like a case study and laugh histeracally when he left. That would brighten up my 16hr days.

No. Messy first names imply that your last name is probably MOHAMMED. You may have prestige in the UAE or wherever you got your HB1 visa from. At least you won't have to worry about finding a wife.
