Considering an MBA - Looking for Simple Guidance on Process From Starting To Study for GMAT to Admissions

Looking for resources and information on the below.  Basically, someone I can pick their brain on specific questions on MBA Admissions.

  • Application - how far in advance of my first day at an MBA Program should I submit my application? (1 year, 6 months, etc.)
  • Application - outside of maxing out my GMAT score, what are some other recommendations for ensuring I have the best possible application?
  • Admissions - Should I be networking with alumni, admissions employees, etc. from each target school? What is the most important piece?
  • Are there any free MBA admission consultants out there?
  • Program Calendars - are there semesters at MBA programs, similar to undergraduate degrees?
