HEC and Bocconi MSc Finance Profile Review
Hello everyone,
I am interested in applying to a few finance masters in Europe and I would really need help assessing my chances. My preferred options are HEC and Bocconi, but I would also apply to LSE plus other lower ranked options such as SciencesPo, UCL, ESSEC. My stats are:
-
BA in Economics from the best university in Ireland and top 100 worldwide. Top 15% in my class. Economics masters from the same university
-
Currently working in Corporate Development for a large bank in Ireland
-
Prior experience as a Research Assistant on a finance paper, plus Teaching Assistant in the university. Also volunteering teaching economics to underprivileged undergrads
-
Can get nice LORs
-
GRE: 328 (168Q, 160V)
Any idea would be very much appreciated, thanks everyone! Really unsure what are my chances.
Hey there!
Based on the most helpful WSO content, your profile seems quite strong for the programs you're interested in. Your academic background is impressive, with a BA in Economics from a top university and being in the top 15% of your class. Your work experience in Corporate Development and as a Research Assistant also adds value to your profile.
Your GRE score is also competitive, and having strong Letters of Recommendation can definitely boost your application.
However, remember that these programs are highly competitive and other factors such as your essays, interview performance, and overall fit with the program can also play a significant role in the admission decision.
So, while your profile is strong, it's always a good idea to apply to a range of programs to increase your chances. Good luck with your applications!

UCD or Trinity? ;)
Trinity…
They don't care about which percentile you were at your school, what's your GPA?3.8?3.9? You're gonna be fine if so, but if it's less than 3.6 you're probably have a harder time getting in but still possible
It’s First Class Honours, so I would say it’s at least 3.8 and maybe more. Thanks!
Where do you want to end up?
I assume you only speak english. You are already at a big bank. You don't speak French or Italian.
I think you have a good chance at Bocconi, HEC im not familiar with.
I went on exchange to SciencesPo already and I did French before, so I have a good level. But no Italian whatsoever.
Where do you want to work
France or Switzerland. Continental Europe in general and maybe London. But not Ireland, that’s why I want to apply.
Consider HSG, maybe RSM too.
