High School senior confused on how to articulate WHY IB

I am a high school senior and I could really use some guidance. I've been considering a career in Investment Banking (IB), and have been trying to learn more about the field.

I recently reached out to a professor asking for resources to learn more about IB over the summer. The truth is, I don't know much about the field and I'm hoping to dive into some reading or courses to see if it's the right fit for me. I asked him for recommendations and I want to explain why I’d like to pursue IB but I don’t know how to articulate it well.

What draws me to IB, though I struggle to articulate it, is my interest in global economies and how IB could potentially impact them. The idea of being involved in work that could influence economic dynamics on a global scale is incredibly appealing to me, but I'm not sure how that translates to a career in IB.

Can someone please help me articulate this in a way I don’t look like a complete dumbass to the professor.

He already knows I have 0 finance knowledge, but I don’t want to make a bad impression and I still want his guidance.
