IU Kelley Transfer Prospects

Hi everyone,

I am currently a freshman direct-admit at IU's Kelley School of Business looking to transfer.

I finished first semester with a 4.0 GPA with a very "rigorous" course-load by Kelley freshman standards. My HS SAT/ACT Scores are 2260 (old), 1530 (new), and 34 ACT. My goal is to transfer to an elite university (Ivies and the like) for the stronger alumni network - I am particularly interested in TMT investment banking/private equity (have coded my whole life but more interested in the business side). Although Kelley's Investment Banking Workshop is fantastic, Kelley's alumni network doesn't have the type of alumni network in Tech/VC that I am looking for.

I didn't get into the schools I targeted for freshman admission because I had a very mediocre, if not awful, GPA in high school at a top 10 HS in the United States (small fish in a huge pond). However, my high school and college EC's are solid, with 3 high impact leadership positions and 2 years worth of job and paid internship experience. Will also likely get good recs from my professors (office hours convos/participation/etc.)

What schools can I get into for Sophomore Transfer with this information? I am currently looking at Georgetown McDonough, Dartmouth (Econ), Northwestern (Econ), and Duke (Econ).

I am targeting private schools due to the closer-knit alumni network.

I am an East Asian male, if that makes a difference.

Thanks!

those are good choices, would also look into cornell dyson, nyu stern, washu olin, and wharton. you said you want to stick to private schools but the "public ivies" are essentially private schools so i'd also look into michigan ross, uva mcintire, and berkeley haas.

Since you're looking for tech/VC, I'd target mostly west coast schools: -Stanford -UC Berkeley Haas -USC -UCLA(if you're cool with an economics major) Feel free to add in a few east coast schools as well.

I added UVA and USC to my list and am considering adding a few more public ivies and west coast schools. Given the information in the first post, where would you put my chances for transfer admission to any of the schools on my list/in the same ballpark? I know it is common to lateral transfer between elite schools (e.g. MIT to Amherst), but I'm not too familiar with "transferring up" to a target.

i know the public ivies are generally somewhat transfer friendly and you should be competitive given your ACT and 4.0 GPA. Not really sure on the others like dartmouth and duke.
