Oxford MFE and LBS MFA interviews

Hey all. I've been invited to interviews for the Oxford MFE and LBS MFA programs. Obviously both will be online thanks to Corona. Does anyone have any experience with interviews for either of them? Any advice appreciated.

Congrats on the interviews! Did you receive the invite via mail?

I applied for the MFE on 13 March and thought I would be notified by 3 April. However, I haven't heard back yet. Is this a silent rejection??

Thanks! Wishing you good luck for the interview.

Thanks! I got the interview invite last Wednesday by email. I can't comment on whether you are being silently rejected, only extra info I can offer is that everyone has to book their interviews by the 6th according to the email I received.

Not completely true. Oxford can ask technical questions + motivational OR purely motivational questions, as it solely depends on who interviews you (e.g. someone from the careers team or a professor). I don't have any strong data to support this, but my impression is that if they are unsure about your technical background, it is more likely that a professor will interview you (you should however still expect basic motivational questions).

LBS purely motivational/fit. Key difference is also that LBS interview is significantly longer, whereas Oxford is very short.

OP: Congratulations on your Admission Offers. You should really be proud of yourself, regardless of where you end up matriculating in the end.

Unfortunately, I cannot help you (and I apologize), as I haven't interviewed for either program. But the overall consensus here on this board is exactly as stated above by our peers.

However, would you possibly please be kind enough to (anonymously) share any applicant profile details (at least your GMAT Score maybe).

Would highly appreciate that.

Good luck with the interviews.

Sure.

GMAT 740 (Q50/V41/IR:8/AWA:5); GPA:3.85/4; WE: 1 year FT at boutique m&a advisory firm.

Both my undergraduate university and current firm are well regarded in the CEE, but virtually unknown internationally

I will be starting MFA this sep. Interview is laid back with an alum (from any of the programmes) I was interviewed by a MIM. Pure motivational questions. Make sure you can talk about why LBS , why this programme, why did you study at XX uni in your undergraduate. Also make sure to know well the MFA, which electives are you most keen on? and also LBS’ clubs (choose 2, one social and one professional). Good luck!

Congrats! Got an MFA invite as well this week, but don't know the exact date of the interview yet. People keep telling me that it is purely motivational/fit. Good luck!

I might be too late to this thread...not sure when last round of interviews is but I interviewed for Oxford MFE in December. Was extremely technical but solely based on economics and zero finance and definitely tested your analytical skills. I did WSP Finance Interview Prep course and none of that information was applicable to my interview. Remember just to stay calm during interview and walk them through your through process if you start to panic. I didn't think I had done very well but I ended up getting an offer and will be going there this fall (hopefully, given COVID-19) so luckily it all worked out in the end :)
