Well done. Congrats.
congrats on your offer!
Congrats dude... wish you all the best
Impressive and inspiring. Cheers.
Well done! Your team is lucky to have you.
Incredible story!!! Love it....
You're the man, congrats! Can you share the specifics of landing an offer in SF? Like how they recruit, through HR or an analyst/associate screening? And did you find mostly tech groups or other groups as well? extremely competitive compared to NYC
Sure. The following was how the recruiting process went (mind you this is specific to my experience and the firm that extended me the offer)
Fall 2012 - Started by reaching out to a couple Analysts, moved up to VP by the end of the Fall. Spring 2013 - Kept cold emailing/asking for references and managed to speak with a Director who was extremely helpful. Summer 2013 - I kept in touch with EVERY SINGLE person at the firm that I spoke with (total of about 17 individuals - from HR - Sr. Bankers). Even made sure to send a note to the Aholes Lol. End of Summer 2013/Beginning of Fall 2013 - Asked the director to push my resume (in a real subtle and polite way). Also asked another VP and and Analyst to push my resume.
Interview process - Got the 1st round, phone int, towards end of August. Next was Superday 4 rounds. 2 Behavioral/slightly technical, 2 all technical.
Heard back from HR within the next 6 days.
Hope that helps @zeroblued
@zeroblued
I have a platform offer, not a group specific. Tech group is extremely competitive to get in. I don't find out about my group until January.
Congrats on your amazing offer ! Can you share your experience in how to overcome language barrier since you are immigrant? It can tell you are fluent in writing and oral. What is your level of English before you came to US? How long does it take to achieve current level?
@ZeroW
It's definitely hard overcoming the language barrier. When I moved to the US, I was a senior in HighSchool and I knew how to read/write in English. However, I wasn't fluent. I got better by reading books and American magazines (such as GQ), and during college joined a plethora of organizations (I took leadership roles in them so I was forced to interact), and played sports so I was forced to learn "American lingo" (idioms, slang and such)
It's definitely difficult, but you have to "work at it like a crack addict." Lol
Congrats. It seems you exhibited an unusual amount of persistence with networking..definitely an inspiring story. Best of luck!
Thats awesome congrats
Congrats! Hard work pays off!
Congrats! Will be hunting for opportunity in SF next year too! Seems really competitive here.
Congrats!
