I think your inability to find one of the 15 million other threads on this exact subject is a bigger issue (regarding your competence, at least) than what colour suit/shirt/tie you wear.
Only if you intend to pull out a silenced Glock and execute the interviewers.

whats the problem with just wearing normal attire? Why cant you just wear a dark grey suit, light blue/white shirt and a normal tie?

No. black suit are for waiters, valets, and those attending a funeral.
Even attending afuneral you can just go with a muted tie and dark charcoal suit. Unless you are a waiter there is no reason to own a black suit.
I know this is an old thread now, but are you serious about the black tie? This isn't The Oscars. Would you honestly go black tie to any office setting? Unbelievable.

Black tie, probably not.
Black suit, there is no reason to wear one over solid charcoal or navy, those are considered more standard. However, IMHO it's not a deal breaker. I was pretty unaware of business fashion in college and even the beginning of banking (business casual office). So, I showed up to my internship superdays in a black suit. It worked out fine for me.
Point being, navy or charcoal > black, but it's much less of a big deal than a lot of people on here would have you believe
Same, wore a black suit to a few of my interviews before reading up on it on this site. No issues whatsoever.
Well, I did get dinged at one firm's superday though...
White suit, black shirt, white tie.
Make that no shirt and you're in business.
Why not paisley tie, checked shirt, and pinstripe suit?
I'm from the U.S. and like many college students, I've worn a black suit to every internship interview that I've had and I've been fine. If you're like me and it's the only suit that you own, then go for it. Just don't wear it with a black tie.
Seems to be common in Asia (Japan at least). To me it screams "Reservoire Dogs", therefore I'd say listen to the recommendations above and wear a different combination.
Of course it is appropriate but the fact is that it seems to look more usual. If you wish to impress your interviewer with your clothing, compromise with that as it could not be that impressive as it looks to be the routine dressup.

Dark blue or a navy suit from Napoli Tailors would be more appropriate for interviews. I don't think I've gone on wearing black, it would look to somber instead of professional looking.
Do you apply for a job as an undertaker? Then go for it.
Please don't. Navy or Charcoal aren't that hard to come by.
