Hey! Do I know Bob? Sure I do.. Diamond Geezer!
Good morning/afternoon/evening,
Firstly, let me just mention, I am very new to this community but I have been a fan of various writers and contributors on WSO.
This may not be the best opening topic to put out there for my debut but here it goes….
So, I was at work partly watching BBC News today who was broadcasting the Bob Diamond roast after lunch. I never really took much interest in Mr. Diamond
but some of his responses got me intrigued as to ‘Who actually is this Diamond geezer?’..
I ‘Googled’ him, as you do, and I click on his Wiki profile (Wikipedia is always a good
trusted source of information - so far anyway)..
Now, not to drag this out too much, I cam across this one line that grabbed my attention ‘He was a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity at Colby’.. What??
Now guys, sorry to be possibly coming across ‘naive’ but what would you call this ‘fraternity’ in being? What’s its purpose?
OK.. SO I saw this and thought… Bob Diamond… CEO of Barclays… Very Successful… Big ass Bonuses... Top man… Phi Delta Theta… Illuminati… Freemasons… The Lodge… Or just a ‘Member of the club’
Back to my point – Is this fraternity some elitist club that only selected people get invited to? (Similar to the ‘Final Club’ that Zuckerberg stole the FB concept from in Social Network) My thoughts are that it is something very selective and the type of club that
opens doors (hence his very successful career path). If people agree or disagree, I would like to hear your thoughts on this and please share what your
experiences if you will..
Bob Diamond has balls and did some great things at Barclays Capital, I dont know about his political role I know he was hosting a fundraiser for romney in London but dont know how influential he is.
Skull and Bones both had Bush and John Kerry as Alumini Secret Societies like that basically bring together people with potential to be successful give them a helping hand with networking etc to ensure they play for the right team and protect the right people
Similar to what Ron Paul has been saying since the 80s those who are involved in the trilateral commission and council of foreign relations end up in positions of power in the white house,IMF and Federal Reserve. A old boys club keeping the rest out
Newt Gingrich claims to be a conservative but he supported Rockefeller over Goldwater. Now Newt claims to be successor of Goldwater.

I agree, Bob has a lot of balls and a fair amount a of dignity to step down in the time he did rather than cling on for all dear life!
So would you say Mr. Diamond is batting for a team which is very connected, hugely hidden and have the worlds interest at best or corruption is still at the heart of it?
Secret Socities definitely work on self intrest and protecting the power structure. However, dont know if phi delta is actually a secret society, they may just be a shared intrest society rather than invitaion only .
Eg Its one thing when politicians and buisness leaders meet at Davos Its another thing when they meet up at Bilderburg
I don't understand this post. That said, I don't know if it's serious and if I should lay out what a social fraternity is...
