How to Dress for Success on Wall Street (Part 4)

Hi everyone,

This is the final part of the Jon Yeazel interview, How to Dress for Success on Wall Street. Jon has given us some great info over the past couple weeks; from suit accessories to selected styles and fit. To conclude our interview Jon has given us some of his top online locations for ties, pocket squares, and suits. He also gives a brief run down of his successful Kickstarter campaign. So lets get started.

Jon's Favorite Sites:

1. The Tie Bar - where I get almost all of my ties and pocket squares

2. Suit Supply- Suit Supply is a relatively new company that actually produces custom suits (made in America) at very affordable prices starting around $400 and going up to about $800.

3. MR PORTER- great for guys looking to spend a little more

4. Sebastien Grey - They have a location in New York as well so that is by far the best suit you can get for that price by a reputable custom clothier anywhere.

Q: Jon, you recently launched a successful Kickstarter project. Can you give us a run down of the product and what led to the success of your Kickstarter campaign? (Collar Stays- removable anchors that hold ties, pocket squares, or shirt sleeves in place)

Jon: The Kickstarter experience was great. The feedback I got from our backers was so helpful. Our Fashion Anchors (Collar Stays) have so many uses it’s really hard to explain them all in a 90 second promo clip.

What I love about the product personally is the peace of mind in knowing that everything is where it’s meant to be. I don’t want to say that it will solve all your clothing problems because to some guys, they would not consider these things “problems” in the first place. What I can tell you is that our product’s simplicity combined with its effectiveness will be worth every dollar spent. No other product on the market can do this many different things and fit comfortably in your pocket, period.

A lot of my spare time during the project was spent with my wife in downtown Chicago handing out samples in high traffic areas of the city. I hate hot weather and it was over 90 degrees almost every day during our launch so those days were very tough, but as a start up company you have to do everything you can to get going. All the other time was spent calling, emailing and stopping into local menswear shops to show them the product. It’s tough because until the project catches some momentum, people are always hesitant to jump on board. This is why I’m so grateful for all of our supporters on Kickstarter for being bold enough to try something unconventional from the start. I really am so grateful for all of their contributions.
