Stub-Bonus Bananas - June 22, 2012

Uncle Eddie is out today, so I’m subbing in once again and delivering a helping of Stub-Bonus Bananas for you to enjoy. Without further ado, here are some links to help you get through your Friday morning…

Larry Ellison buys Hawaiian island (LA Times) - Larry Ellison continues to be the world’s most awesome super rich guy. If every billionaire took a page out of his book, the world would be a way cooler place.

Mother Jones(!) predicted the financial crisis and bank bailouts in 1999 on the eve of the repeal of Glass Steagall (Mother Jones) - I found this gem while browsing Reddit. They saw Too Big To Fail and the bailouts coming years before they became a reality. Only other guy making noise about this back in 1999 was Ron Paul, and these two couldn’t possibly be further apart on the political spectrum.

Speaking of Too Big To Fail – Moody’s cuts the credit ratings of 15 banks (DealBook) - Citigroup and Bank of America continue to swirl around the toilet bowl, standing just two notches above junk. Oof.

Sick of the same old exit opps? Knock up a famous actress and collect child support! (Huffington Post) - With all the talk on here about how screwed over men get in a divorce, it was kind of nice to see the tables turned in a big way. Halle Berry has been ordered to pay $20,000 a month in child support. Twenty. Thousand. Dollars. Per month. God damn. Kudos to Abdel for the link.

One Hedge Fund is bullish on Greek Companies…seriously (Bloomberg) - Yeah, I’m not sure I agree with his investment thesis. Is anyone else bullish on any Greek companies? I'd be curious to see if somebody thinks he's on to something, or if he's just insane.

Video Clip of the Week:

Is Liam Neeson the new Charles Bronson? He’s turned into one of Hollywood’s best and most unconventional action stars. Need proof? Here’s the trailer for Taken 2:

Enjoy the weekend, everyone.

Great job, man. Thanks for filling in. I just caught the Taken 2 trailer myself. As much as I want to like it, it unfortunately looks like a paycheck movie to me. Hope I'm wrong, because the first one was great. There was even some talk about making a movie about his team of buddies from the first one. I think that would've been a better sequel.

Looks like they're going to do the same thing they did with "The Transporter"

Awesome first movie, terrible sequels.

If this is a paycheck movie for Liam Neeson then someone should remind him THERE'S ALWAYS MONEY IN THE BANANA STAND

I'm like one of them marriage counselors. Charge by the hour to tell some fool he needa bring some flowers home. Then charge another hour telling the bitch she oughta suck some cock every little once in a while. Keep a marriage strong like that. -Prop Joe
