Notre Dame (Mendoza) MBA with a Fellowship vs Texas (McCombs) MBA with no fellowship
I have been accepted to both schools, but offered a fellowship and partial scholarship to ND. I live in San Francisco and would like to return here (or do a stint in Chicago) post-MBA. Interested in healthcare/biotech and exploring VC world. Which school should I choose?
I would be interested as well. From my understanding the caliber of candidates at McCombs is higher than that of Mendoza. On the flip side, those Notre Dame alumni pull for each other.
From a geographic perspective, both schools seem rather regional. Which might impact you heading back to San Fran.
I live in San Francisco and I know there is quite the Notre Dame mafia here.
I see both schools as being equally not local -- so not sure the actual distance from the bay area matters.
And if you are considering a post-MBA life in Chicago, Mendoza is an easy bet
Austin is cool though, but is it thousands of dollars cool?
If you're really set on a healthcare/pharma role, I think Mendoza wins here. You got lots of healthcare in Chicago (Abbot, Abbvie, etc) plus Indianapolis has a huge healthcare scene (Eli Lilly/Wellpoint/tons of med device startups), whereas in TX the only major player I can think of is an eye care company (and providers obviously). And it looks like they place equally well on the West Coast looking at their employment reports.
Thanks guys for your input/opinions.
I just found out I've also been accepted to UNC. Any preference now over ND/UNC/UT?
