Career Progression: Strategy Consulting to MBA to ?

So this is more of a vent than a specific question, but would really appreciate hearing what others have to say, especially from those who feel similarly after working in strategy.

Background: I studied Industrial Engineering at a top public UG, have been working at a non MBB (but well known) Management Consultancy for the past 5 years in their Digital Strategy group, and am starting full time at an M7 this fall.

Situation: I've been spending some time reflecting on what I really want to do post MBA and am pretty confused. I've really enjoyed working in strategy - the challenging business problems, exposure to various industries, short length of projects, executive level visibility, etc. But after a couple years of doing this, I sort of feel like I don't have any tangible skills and just know a little of everything.

Question: I've been thinking of pursuing Corporate Strategy after business school, so I can maintain the aspects of consulting I've enjoyed, but do so at one company where I can build some industry expertise. However, I worry that doing this will leave me in the same situation of being the guy building/presenting bullshit strategic proposals and still not developing any real skills. I've been looking at Corporate Development, which seems strategic while allowing me to build up Finance/Modeling skills - I just don't know how feasible it is for someone without a Finance/Banking background.
Are there other post MBA roles where I can get the exciting nature of strategic work while also becoming an 'expert' at something? Everyone I've talked to tells me i'm a moron and to stay in Strategy

I think Product or Brand Management is worth looking into. I'm not super familiar with it, so perhaps someone else can speak to it better, but it seems like you have more "ownership" of whatever product/functionality that you're working on.

VC PE could be interesting enough. they love ex consultants as much as ex bankers. also you can get into IB if you're in good ranks within your program - campus hiring can do the job.
