Brown Brothers Harriman Internship
Wondering what people have to say about BBH these days in terms of pay, culture etc. Also if an M&A/Private equity internship there would be a good experience for junior summer/ would a move to bulge bracket or buy side be possible?
A lot of the posts on BBH talk about low pay, not dynamic, etc. but I know several partners at the firm who all do incredibly well so just trying to get a feel for the place, thanks!
I had a friend who interned there over the summer, then at a MM PE firm the following fall semester (family friend connection) who was then able to land botique IB analyst position in NYC.
Anybody have info on Brown Brothers Harriman PE? (Originally Posted: 06/11/2015)
Looking for the basics for Associate:
They're pretty diversified, so my independent research has yielded info from almost every other division except PE.
Thanks in advance.
Speaking generally I am also interested, it seems to be difficult to find these specifics about BBH
Which office? I interned at BBH in Boston a few years back.
I understand you would like more intel, but they are a pretty small firm personnel wise. Here's what I found at the top of Google. https://www.bbh.com/wps/wcm/connect/5f68200047f78e3e990bb908bbb70579/BB…
Also, look at the LinkedIn profiles of their Associates and Analysts if you want to evaluate pedigree, mobility, comp. I find the backgrounds of the individuals can be telling (sometimes).
Thanks for posting, but aside from this doc, information on their PE arm in particular is pretty hard to find. The linkedin search is cool for pedigree, but I'm not nearly as concerned with that as I am their comp and culture. Glassdoor searches seem to indicate they pay below (or significantly below) market, and it sounds like a horrible place, but it doesn't clarify exactly what division this is. Their PE arm could operate totally differently from the rest of the company.
Even finding trajectory of people who were previously in the PE arm is hard given the variety of roles people have held at BBH in general.
I interviewed there over three years ago,so I'm not sure of the current state. I like to use LinkedIn as a barometer, and I think it tells you most of what you need to know. Comp is below market and the culture is exactly what you would expect.

Brown Brothers Harriman - Anyone know what to expect? (Originally Posted: 01/08/2008)
I have an interview later this month with BBH for a summer trading internship. Anyone know what I should expect? Im thinking itll be mostly fit questions.
All fit questions at BBH, I know some people in the treasury & markets (which is I assume where you're interviewing?) division and I've never heard any technicals.
Some people there just go down your resume others will literally talk the whole time about BBH and then ask if you have any questions in the last 5 min, depends on who you interview with.
Good Luck.
Brown Brothers Harriman - Any insight on the firm? (Originally Posted: 10/09/2007)
I have an interview with them this friday, I was wondering if anyone could give me into some insight into their company. The position I am interviewing for is finance training program that places into a treasury position or a corporate banking position. How is this position viewed, and what should I expect.
Thanks
wondering about this
What's the lowdown on BBH SA? (Originally Posted: 02/06/2014)
Looking for info on the following: - Conversion/offer rates for Intern --> FT - Pay (hourly for interns of course and then starting salary for 1st yr) - Placement. How easy would it be to go from interning on a trading desk to interviewing for (and securing) a FT position in the M&A/PE combo group? NY for both. - Anything I may have missed
Thanks
interviewing for SA as well -- would be interested as well.
I know a little bit -- the M&A team is very small (M&A group is one of, if not the, smallest out of the 5 groups). Most of the FO positions are based in NY. Heard that comp is below street.
From when I talked to them I was under the impression that the SA conversion rate is very high as they generally do not do FT recruiting.
Pay is slightly below street
Also heard from a family friend that the shop is kinda "white-gloved" and old-fashioned. He joined for a stint in a senior position and did not like it. No personal experience or view on that though.
they misspell acquisitions in their sigs - should give you an idea of the talent pool
