List of Investment Banks that Don't Sponsor H1B for US Entry-level Postitions
For those of you who need H1B Visa sponsorship for entry-level, can we make a list together to identify investment banks that don't sponsor h1b? I found an earlier post back in 2010 with a list but it should be out of date. As far as I know, Wells Fargo and Piper Jaffray don't consider international students for their analysts at all. It could be wrong but let's make an up-to-date list together.
Thanks a lot!
I also heard that BMO and Raymond James don't sponsor
RJ does
I also heard that BMO and Raymond James don't sponsor
my friend is international so this info is provided by him JPM ( i have heard mix news), Wells Fargo, Bank of America Merill Lynch
JPM doesn't take international students, unless they have permanent work Visa...
JPM recruits at my Canadian school so they must sponsor at least sometimes
probably for their Canadian offices.
JPM & BAML does ( well BAML barely
Many of the EBs do not sponsor
Every EB have sponsored someone I know who isn't American. That being said, they sponsored them for a TN-1 at first before allowing them to apply for H1B a few months later.
Can confirm Piper does not sponsor. Don't know what it's like at other banks, but at Piper even if it's for an internship and an applicant wouldn't need sponsorship for the summer, if they need sponsorship for FT then they're automatically out.
The issue is that with the application level for H1Bs has gotten so high that you pretty much only have a ~35% chance of your petition being accepted and that brings quite a bit of risk for banks (can be mitigated somewhat by applying in April just before graduation so they have a second chance to do it the next year before OPT expires, but still far from a guarantee) so I expect that a lot of banks that have historically sponsored are going to think twice before they do. I have 2 friends at BBs that had to be moved to London because they weren't selected for a Visa and although anecdotal, I hear this is happening more and more.

Greenhill doesn't
They do BC I know a few kids they've sponsored for
They do...
Evercore, at least Houston, doesn't
I've talked to multiple internationals at Bank of American Merrill Lynch but they are all associates...don't know about entry level tho... are analysts and associates treated differently on this matter?
many of them might be internal laterals - i know a bunch of people who transferred from a regional office to NY after a few years
Evercore and JPM sponsor (my friends have received superdays/offers).
I have interviewed with BAML for summer analyst position. I guess it could mean they at least consider internationals for positions. I don't think they called me without first checking my work status.
Curious about other BB/EB
All BBs, including JPM and BAML, definitely sponsor. Lazard sponsors, too. CS HR claims they don't sponsor internationals from non-core schools, but I know a few who fall into that category and still got sponsored.
Rothschild and GHL don't sponsor for entry positions
not sure about the official stance on the issue, but I'm 99% they have in the past. EVR NYC does too, i believe. So does Moelis.
As of last recruiting session, they would not interview candidates needing a work Visa - at least at my school (target).
are you sure they don't sponsor? I just spoke with someone from Rothschild who said they would consider all candidates (US/international students)
also - with Greenhill, I know they didn't consider international students for a 2017 summer analyst position, but do you know if they would sponsor for a full time analyst this year?
Stifel Financial Corp also does not.
GS, Wells, and most of the boutique banks don't sponsor at entry-level.
GS Sponsor at the associate level
GS sponsors internationals
Macquarie will sponsor
GS sponsors analysts, BAML also.
Banks who don't sponsor at ASSO level: GHL, Rothschild, BMO, WF
Moelis & JPM will sponsor
Pretty sure Barclays doesn't accept internationals

.
I can confirm that MS does sponsor - it's a case by case basis
