Target universities for top London consulting firms?

I’d like to know what the target universities are for top management consulting firms in the UK, namely McKinsey, Bain and BCG.

Is it true that the London office if these firms mainly target and hire from these unis:
- Oxford
- Cambridge
- LSE
- Imperial
- Warwick
- UCL

Also, is it necessary to have a consulting internship to get a FT consulting offer? In IB, having a IB summer internship is almost a prerequisite to land a FT role.

Oxbridge, LBS's MiM, Imperial, UCL and LSE are largely the most represented - usually ~85-90% of the class. Other notable unis that frequently occur include: Warwick, Bristol, Bath, Durham, St Andrews, Edinburgh, KCL.

Consulting firms are more grad role heavy than summer conversion to grad role. Paramount to being considered are: good grades, leadership and top brand names. It's better to do an internship at a major FTSE100 or Fortune 100 company, a front office gig at a major firm or academic research for a solid department than a consulting internship at like Capgemini.

One point to consider/keep in mind: Even though not impossible, it is really tough to get into the big firms in London if you are not British (or at least a native English speaker). Most other Europeans, even if they have studied at one of the targets mentioned above, will have way better chances in their homecountries.
