Current Credit Investment Analyst - thinking about moving to operating roles in companies

Hey all - curious to see if anywhere here has moved from the buyside to a corporate strategy/operations role in a fulfilling, successful way.

For context - I went to a target school and went straight to buyside out of school for a top-tier credit investment firm that is part of a larger PE shop. I love investing, but I particularly enjoy learning about how businesses operate and what makes a good/bad business.

So, as I think about what I might want to do after this job (and I may choose to stay on past Associate role), I wanted to see if anyone had moved into a more operating-focused role at a real company from investing. I don't want to have to "start over" at the bottom of the career ladder, and obviously don't want to have to take a huge pay cut either.

Would appreciate any advice here. Thanks!
