I think people of this board are too secretive to post their numbers on here...even though it's the internet, you know how anal IB'rs are.
post somebody elses then. just don't do it at work
i've heard at BBs, anywhere in the range from 40-60k. how accurate is that?
Did you miss out a 0 on those numbers ? Because 40-60K is way too low.
stub, fool.
What ?
What do bonuses look like for analysts at a boutique IB?
they aren't talking about first year analyst numbers
he's talking about stub pay
i'm referring to associates that graduated out MBA school in May and have been working since August or so. Their stub bonus won't be 100k or anything. More like 45-60k. Does anyone have concret #'s?
1.5 yr associate (1st full year post-stub) got $305K in my group.
rather than bonus, just to confirm?
JPM will be giving out #s in the next week or so... If anyone has color on 2nd and 3rd year associates pay package for 2006, that would be helpful. Also, client team vs. product team is also helpful. Thanks.
Goldman paid out $16 billion total in bonuses alone...whoo that's a lot of money. I want a slice of that...:)
whoa, what about a 2004 guy? any idea?
Does Goldman pay better than other banks? If so, is that relevant for IBD guys (esp. analysts), or is it basically their traders whose bonuses hit the roof?
Lehman NY
yea its stub pay
I heard that GS 1/2 yr assoc. got stub of 50K as well. seems low
I can't believe that so few associates would be on this board. It's so easy to post anonymously.
50 annualizes to 100...plus that signing bonus you get. it's not so low.
50 sounds right for 1/2 a year.
$260-$280k First year in Canada
anyone have them?
This was posted on thevault message board
Are compensation of VP's and MD's listed anywhere...or is there too much of a variation in those to actually carry out a survey
Also I was a bit curious...what are sign on's for associates...
and for both analysts and associates are the signon and relocation different??
Just get the Post article. It's mostly right.
Do you have a link to the Post article, or is it only available offline?

Click on the graph in the picture, obviously.
The chart seems to indicate that these are bonus numbers, but they look more like total comp. Of course at the Director and higher level, salary is just a rounding error in good years.
Yes, they represent total comp, not bonus. Numbers came in slightly higher than represented.
Sorry but what does "stub" mean.
bonus pro rated for 1/2 year
Just a quick question.
I was under the impression that first year analysts did not receive a stub bonus around the end of the year, but received their full bonus one year after they started at the firm (usually around July). Is this true? or do they get a stub bonus?
If they don't get a stub bonus, who does? Is it usually first year associates and new hires above first year associates (ie new directors hired in September or something)?
Thanks.
this thread is about associates
Hi all,
Threads like this do not work. The quality of the numbers can not be trusted so its really a lost cause.
SmartBanker, if you are interested in JPM numbers then maybe we can exchange info via pvt messaging? Ping me if interested.
I've confirmed a few of these numbers myself and they look accurate. Just ignore the posts that confuse stub with first-year.
Heard $45K for JPM stub. Anyone hear anything different?
No word on JPM, but I heard from multiple sources that ML, GS, BS, and Lehman were all $45K in both IB and S&T. With that many banks toeing the line I'd be very surprised if anyone deviates....
are the bonuses actually paid to the associate all at once or are they spread out over the year. because considering the size of the bonuses, that is a lot of money to get in a single check.
they are paid at ye
i work at a bb in Brazil - Sao Paulo - and we've got loads of newcomers, mostly associates and some vps - from ny and london. i didn't really know why they were coming back and i thought they were just home sick but after getting to know how much you're paid there, i think i get them much better. 1st year analyst's bonusses here are: - ubs/pactual and itau/bba - US$ 300k - credit suisse - US$ 250-275k - ml, citi, jpm - US$ 200k you can also get at least US$ 150k at small local boutiques i don't know much about associate's bonusses but i'll try to post them here soon
No way. For ANALYSTS?!
Screw PE, everyone should just go to Brazil.
you have got to be kidding, right? 300K, all-in I assume, for 1st year analysts?
I dont buy it. No way.
why don't you phone the Brazilian branch of your bank and ask them??? they certainly won't mind bragging about how much money they made. this year bonusses have been ridiculously high but it's not gonna last forever. they weren't reaching US$50k five years ago and they probably won't within five years...
Total myth.
I took a highschool fieldtrip to go see the dolphins in the Bay Area, apparently, the dolphin trainers get $2000 USD bonuses yearly...
My point: Who needs ibanking when you can do dolphin training
