Buttigieg- 21st century Christian leader or hoax?

Hello,
Decided to make this thread after the discussion me and @CRE" had in the 2020 election thread. Just curious about what you all think about Buttigieg. Is he a Christian leader? Or is he just a hoax using the term "Christian" to advance his political platform? What about his beliefs?
Dw I'll get my skin in the game after I hear some of you all's opinions.

Controversial

Hoax. Just another line item on his resume. He claims to speak seven languages (that's a load of shit) and did back office stuff in Afghanistan so he could be a veteran. That man is as phony as Hillary Clinton.

He worked as a threat finance analyst in Afghanistan for a few months. That's literally safer than being a construction worker in the United States. Not exactly Seal Team Six, doesn't qualify him to be president!

Find me a quote where he says he can speak 7 languages fluently. I will wait. He is on record saying that he can only speak a few sentences in some languages and is not fluent in all 7. He is more comfortable in some languages like Italian, Spanish and French than Norwegian. Its okay to be envious of his impressive resume and background, but you dont have to lie, it comes off as extremely petty.

He lacks any charm whatsoever, is boring, and is conniving. He won his mayoralty by exaggerating his work at McKinsey, talking about how he worked with business titans to singlehandedly save them millions of dollars. Yet, now, whenever anyone asks him about what he did in consulting, he plays it down, and says something closer to the truth: "I spent a lot of time working on PowerPoint and Excel." To me, this just shows he's disingenuous.

Well, he was getting attacked for being part of the all mighty mysterious powerful McKinsey, when he was at the bottom of the totem pole. Everyone who visits this site does the exact same thing. Brag about executing $7.6 billion transaction on the front page of the WSJ when they were just a monkey pulling comps.

Buttigieg and Yang are the smartest Democrats in the race, but unlike Yang, Buttigieg is inauthentic, unlikable, sanctimonious. He is the classic Type A overachiever who planned his life from the beginning, working towards political power despite not having genuine political talent.

-He uses his sexual orientation to score political points in an utterly disingenuous manner. For example, he has frequently ripped on Mike Pence even though Pence has never said anything negative about him, and the two have even worked together. Buttigieg also says how he managed to win in Mike Pence's Indiana despite being a gay man. This is of course deeply misleading as he has never won a statewide office in the state (a point that Amy Klobucher brought up in a debate). He is instead the mayor of a liberal college town. Buttigieg has lost state treasurer race as well as DNC chair race.

-He boasts of revitalizing South Bend's economy, helping to transition it from industrial to tech driven city. This is total BS as South Bend is a college town and was never dependent on manufacturing like the rest of the state.

-But the worst thing about Buttigieg is his cynical use of the Bible to justify his ultra-liberal political views. He uses the story of Jesus to argue that the United States should not deport illegal aliens and let in as many migrants and refugees as possible (de facto open borders). Aside from the fact that Jesus was not a refugee (his family fled from Judea to Egypt, both of which were under the auspices of the Roman Empire), Jesus was apolitical, a teacher who did not engage in policy or political critiques. But regarding abortion, Buttigieg claims that the Bible makes it permissible for one to abort a baby until the moment of his birth. He is thus the ultimate moral opportunist: a man so consumed by a raw desire for power that he will twist the Bible to suit his political ideology.

I cannot wait to see this charlatan lose in a spectacular fashion.

Why is this any worse than doing it for a conservative political view? I don't see how this is cynical. Apparently, one can be Christian and liberal, so I don't see how using the Bible to justify one's position is "cynical".

He uses the story of Jesus to argue that the United States should not deport illegal aliens and let in as many migrants and refugees as possible (de facto open borders). Well, as long as we're nitpicking, this is incorrect. Egypt was the personal property of the Emperor, Judea was not, they are two entirely separate legal entities. Roman aristocrats couldn't even set foot in Egypt without permission, for example.

Secondly, if we assume the Bible is an accurate representation of history (which it self-evidently is not, but still, gotta start somewhere!) then Jesus absolutely engages in politics. His preaching is distinctly revolutionary, and even if he hides behind "render unto Caesar..." (an explicitly political statement), one cannot interpret an action such as expelling money changers from the Temple in anything other than a political light.

But regarding abortion, Buttigieg claims that the Bible makes it permissible for one to abort a baby until the moment of his birth. He is thus the ultimate moral opportunist: a man so consumed by a raw desire for power that he will twist the Bible to suit his political ideology.

In other words, he's literally no different than any other politician who mentions or quotes the Bible, you just don't like his interpretation. As far as I know, the Bible never explicitly says "though shalt not abort a fetus," so it is very much up to interpretation as to whether it's allowed or not.

To your last point, there is a commandment "thou shalt not kill" and if I kick a pregnant lady in her belly and her fetus dies, I will probably be charged with murder, even in states that allow abortion. Why the double standard?

I assume you don't think this applies to, say, a cow? The context of the commandment makes it clear it applies to humans. It is a matter of some debate of whether a fetus is a fully fledged human. If you are unwilling to kill anything at all, be it human, animal, or plant, then I applaud your adherence to your principles and retract my point.

Moreover, the commandment says "thou shall not kill." If a man breaks into your home and starts beating you to death, you are equally enjoined from killing your assaulter. There is no gray area in this commandment. Which is yet again why @FCFE" is such a hypocrite. He condemns Peter Buttigieg for "twisting" the meaning of the Bible (as he sees it, naturally) and yet presumably has no problem in twisting it himself if convenient.

Virtually irrelevant considering none of the parties involved was a Roman citizen.

The legal status of both territories was also simply ''province'' (Aegyptus and Judaea respectively), administered by a governor. The only difference is that Judaea was procuratioral, but that's again irrelevant to the point as it made no difference to subjects.

I like it when the lines separating reality and jokes are so blurred that you can't distinguish them anymore.

Never discuss with idiots, first they drag you at their level, then they beat you with experience.

I will not speculate on his personal faith, but say only that it's refreshing to see a major politician advocate for faith-based, social justice positions on the Left and push to stop the commandeering of Christianity by the GOP who praise Jesus in church on Sunday mornings and praise Trump for locking kids in cages at the MAGA rally on Sunday afternoon.

"I don't know how to explain to you that you should care about other people."
