Depends on your working relationship. If you are really interested in her, and are peers and don't work directly with her, go for it. No Upside? Have you heard of getting laid? f-ing a..

Maybe you guys would end up dating, it happens, is not that rare and works well because you obviously have similar interests (and work schedules)

I say go for it man, I hooked up with a girl at the firm I interned at, but she was in HR.

I don't wanna sound crude but...Life's too short to pass up p*ssy.

Are you really questioning yourself about the prospect of pssy? Where's your neanderthal instinct? Fck "working relationship" let her have it and then act like it never happened.

My rule of thumb is you only do seconds if the turkey's too good to pass up...If it's not, one and done my man...one and done...

the practice isn't frowned upon as management and everyone knows that it happens ALOT, especially considering the amount of time everyone spends at work. but know what the consequences are if things don't work out. the biggest concern management has with this is the issue of sexual harassment. just be careful, and make sure it is clear between the two of you that you are both consenting adults. it's almost stupid to go through with it, especially with that hanging on your head. it's almost as if you should make her sign a piece of paper saying she won't scream sexual harassment on you if you happen to dump her. so don't do it.

It can't be sexual harassment if they're both analysts, now if he's an associate and she's an analyst that's a different story.

But anyways, noone's telling him to have a relationship w her, all we'r telling him is to get in, get off and get out.

I hooked up for with a girl from my analyst class for a few months then decided to cut it off because she was getting too attached and i didn't want a relationship.

Don't fool yourself -- she will most likely be pissed at you, and everyone in the office will most likley find out (even if she promises not to tell anyone, she'll end up telling one of her close "girlfriends" at work and it WILL spread)

...not that it is a bad thing. just make sure your intentions are clear...ie, if you're not looking for anything then don't pretend like you are or it could be ugly.

i definitely don't regret it though.

Seanc, you're wrong. Sexual harassment can occur with both co-workers and managers/supervisors. The difference will be in the bank's defense, as they will have to argue different points to prove they're not at fault for sexual harassment. I never thought Business Law would actualy come in handy.

I start as an analyst next year so maybe I'll change my tune, but as of now I don't think I'd ever hook up with a guy on the floor with me. The trading floors at my firm are on two floors, maybe I'd hook up with a guy upstairs. But if there are any intra-office hook ups it will have to be someone in IBD or Compliance or something. My policy is: don't shit where you eat. Especially since as a decently attractive female, I will have a reasonable amount of choice if I decide I want someone in the firm anyway. No need to get with the guy sitting across from me.

hey, i interned this summer in a boutique (yeah, that one...), and by the fourth day of training, i banged the hottest of the other interns. I tell you, word spreads, ... and people show slightly more respect from the get-go, very amusing! So, yes absolutely no doubt about it my friend, go ahead with it, but just be straightforward about what it means (if anything...). thats all

respect? please. you will be seen as a joke, by those who matter. whether you realise it or not.

If you think men, regardless of age, look down on playboys, then you have another thing coming.

Like the guy said, you gotta be subtle about it.

we had a guy here who was interested in a girl, an intern. he was a little too flirty with her. a lot of lower level people thought he was interesting because of it and many gossiped about it. indeed it probably made him more popular with the lower level staff.

however, and more to the point, it killed his credibility with senior management. they couldn't be seen to advocate, or condone his indescretions. some of them might, deep down inside, think that he had balls for doing it, but they weren't going to support someone who would throw away their credibility for a girl.

they guy was seen as a joke. even the ceo's secretary was gossiping about him. you can imagine how she would portray him infront of senior managment and their support staff. everything he did was coloured by the image that he painted for himself. do you think that she, and others, would comment and make a point of it, if he came in a few minutes late after lunch? you bet. e.g. i heard the head of risk management mention that he thought that the guy looked more like a dj than a finance person. this was in response to him wearing slightly stylish glasses, once. do you think that it will matter when he needs to put a proposal through the committee? what if the porposal is for a boarderline case?

in business, your brand is very important. in the investment & investment banking business, even moreso. there are things that you can do to add or detract from you brand. the choice is yours.

there are so many women out there, why risk hooking up with a colleague, just for some fun? not smart. its not like any of you guys work with models (the non-excel type).

I agree somewhat with what you're saying, there are so many player-haters these days that you have to watch your back everywhere especially in an environment like IB where noone's getting laid. But it's hard for a true player to resist a good looking babe.

secretaries and CA's are supposed to be hot. they're looking to score rich husbands... i'm kidding. relinquo made a great point. at my winter '05 sales internship at a branch office, there was a shady shady older guy who used to take this one tight-pant-wearing intern to lunch. He would always request for her to "help" him, and everytime she walked away, he would move his chair and stare at her ass. it was later found out that he had taken her to dinner too. it was sad that everyone talked about it. really sad cause all the CA's at the office were bitchy and bitter. jealous? who knows. he was this mid forties dude who happened to marry an alcoholic trust fund baby who kept calling to yell at him. plus he didn't even have his own office, only a cubicle along with the CA's and interns. It was sad, but his reputation preceded him. He was a dirty old man. From last I heard he still doesn't have an office.

I agree, your reputation could be ruined if you attempt shit like this in the office, but then that's why this type of stuff isn't for amateurs and should only be left to seasoned pros.

I know basically all of you are guys, and you probably don't care, but you completely ruin the reputation of the woman you sleep with you if go around and brag about having sex with her. I've heard horror stories.

Also, aren't we past the point where sleeping with an attractive woman is "cool?" Unless you've never done it before. Haven't you noticed that many of the most successful banking MDs and partners all seem to be happily married to normal looking women? Boning a hot analyst isn't going to move you up in the company.

"aren't we past the point where sleeping with an attractive woman is "cool?" " Most people are past that point but I guess nailing more hot women never becomes too much...that being said...I personally would keep my distance from a co-worker...I think career and private life are best when left out of each other's way...

^ Yeah I'm not saying sleeping with someone hot isn't great...just the idea that you will become cool by doing it is kind of sad. I mean, isn't sex intrinsically enjoyable enough that you don't have to get pleasure from bragging about it?

I don't think relationships at work are good, hope that all the girls at my future employer are just nice and I wiil not feel the need to hook up with them.

When you're working 90 hours a week and barely have enough time to sleep even on weekends, you're not gonna be getting a whole lot of action unless you have a steady girlfriend.

Last summer, when I was in NY, I went out with friends who were full-timers and some of them literally fell asleep in clubs because they were so tired.

That's why I'm saying it's hard to pass up a good looking babe at the office for most Bankers, but for me, a good looking girl ANYWHERE is pretty hard to pass up ;).
