Beer in Quarantine
Quarantine without beer just doesn't make sense. It just doesn't. Which beer do you guys/gals think is best for a time like this?

heinies till I fucken die man
Miller high life
Flagged as inaccurate, pls fix
It's my own personal opinion. Trust me, I'm an expert on my opinion....
Miller High Life underrated, they can't all be 10% ABV hoppy monsters
Also enjoy Budweiser
Franziskaner or Kaiser
Founders All Day IPA is a pretty good price/performance, IMO.
All Day IPA is good. Bell's Two Hearted is my favorite IPA and go-to but when I can't afford to get obliterated by it's 7% ABV, All Day IPA is usually what I'll have
I see you're a man of impeccable tastes.
Currently have some Blue Moon and Guinness stored.
Love Guinness - if you ever want to try another great stout that comes, in my opinion, try Left Handed Brewery's Milk Stout
Definitely, will give it a shot
Agree. IF you like guiness try Belhaven's Scotch Ale
Day 18 without sports and this is what it has come to. Can anyone with extensive beer knowledge please rank the most common beers with the appropriate banks, for example DB = The Rocky Mountain Oyster Stout.
Stout Rankings (Unofficial):
1) Guinness 2) Left Handed Brewery Milk Stout
Open to suggestions for 3rd place..
Murphy's lol, for all you who know Cork
Loaded up on a southern tier sampler along with stella and guinness
Stone - Arrogant Bastard
I haven't ever found a beer I could tolerate. I do have two bottles of Balvenie (Rare Cask and Caribbean Cask) that I have been depleting.
Open to suggestions for beer. I've tried the full range, light all the way to obscure IPAs.
I used to be in the same boat - it's an acquired taste. The more you drink the more you'll learn to differentiate/discover what you like.
Do you fancy any other beverages?
Absolutely. Scotch, tequila, and rum. Rum being my personal favorite. I haven’t found any “normal” hard liquor I don’t enjoy. I’m sure there’s some odd flavored hot Cheetos vodka that would make me vomit, but outside of that I like just about all of them.
Little Eagle Rare is good for the soul
Busch light, I don't give a shit.
I love me some Blue Moon, but there is ALWAYS Busch Lattes in the fridge
Nothing like a freshly acquired 30 rack.
you from iowa? go hawks?
No but I got a friend from there that says that's all that everyone drinks there. In college my friends and I drank Busch lattes when we pooled all our money for beer for the weekend and it was the cheapest, until we had enough to buy kegs.
Bud light
Wait, is Bud Light even a beer?
Easy there craft brew guy
Destroying my stash of craft beer I brought down from New England nowadays. Its bomb.
Treehouse and Trillium ftw
If you like Tree House check out Greater Good in Worcester. They have a bunch of great New England IPAs
Damn fuckin right
How much beer has everyone been drinking during quarantine/WFH? More than usual?
Less than usual on weekends, more than usual on weekdays. Trying out some new brews to branch out from the usual suspects (coors, bud light, high life, etc).
Agreed - actually drinking less now than normal during weekdays. Not going out with coworkers, dates, etc, has contributed. First week of WFH I did drink more than normal (think this was more celebration of not having a long commute) but have dropped consumption over the past few weeks as quarantine has set in.
I love myself a nice cold Corona.
Heineken
Kona Brewing Company is a classic go-to. They have a nice variety pack with a few solid refreshing IPAs
Natty dAddy... by the crate
this is the only right answer
Massachusetts based. Usually would do Fiddlehead IPA after work at South Station which is based out of Vermont but can't get it at home so have been doing Wally IPA (Wachusett Brewing, MA) and Pulp Daddy New England IPA (Greater Good, MA) . As we move into warmer weather and my back porch opens up I will move to some mixed drinks. Mostly Titos, Cran, splash of OJ and any fruit/berry mix And for a Saturday of pure day drinking: Bud Light
Was up in Vermont before shit hit the fan and brought back a load of Alchemist and fiddlehead that has been coming in handy. Well stocked with heiney, Newcastle, pilsner urquell and some recent greenpoint cans.
I miss getting it from the taps in Boston! Never going to complain about my commute again after this is over. Cheers
You are right - quarantine without beer would be fucked.
Stella is the go to, but when I'm feeling cheap gotta go with Budweiser - The King of Beer. Drinking a tallboy from a frozen glass as we speak.
As much as I'm tempted to, I avoid it all day until 1030-11pm hits. Nothing better than cracking open a much deserved cold one, Something to look forward to amongst all this bs.
Water.
5,0 PILS all day erry day till I die
Shocktop and Kronenberg Blanc
A friend brought Duvels from Belgium a while back and I still have some to enjoy during quarantine. Upside of Duvel is that they taste great, downside is that I'm not always in the mood to get fucking hammered when I have a beer at home but Duvel doesn't really give me much choice.
Belgium has exceptional regional beers, too. Even better than German beer, in many instances.
I'm not aware of many non-commercial lighter Belgian beers. Stella is fine but nothing special. On the other end of the spectrum you have Duvel, Chouffe and Chimay which are excellent but are heavy hitters (ABV 8%+ for all of them). Know any lesser "commercial" good Belgian beers between 4-6% ABV?
Michelob Ultra
Sierra Nevada Hazy Little Thing IPA. Those discounted 12-packs are a blessing.
Edit: Brewdog came up with a hazy IPA as well, not bad but on the expensive side
Miller Lite is my go to. However if I'm feeling an IPA, Tropicalia is unbeatable. Unfortunately it's tough to find outside of Georgia.
Keg, irrespective of the type of beer
Elysian Space dust which is an I.P.A or Goose Island which is also an I.P.A too. The best I.P.A that I have heard of is Heady Topper which was ranked #1 on beer advocate. I wish i could get my hands on some of that stuff but it so rare but Dogfish head I.P.A will do. Yes, I do like hoppy I.P.A if you haven't noticed.
Big fan of Dogfish's 90min IPA
Hate to burst you bubble but as someone who has had heady topper--I can say that its good but there are dozens of beers our there on its level. I think it is considered the best because it is so difficult to get your hands on. Definitely worth a try if you're up in Vermont, but it isn't life changing in my opinion.
If you're in NY, a fun friends trip on a long weekend (or solo tbh) would be to do a beer drive up thru western mass and vermont, maybe bounce over to portland. Just load tf up and come home with a great stock.
Definety agree with most of you on here, especially the New England folk. Any light beer is fun to put down, but its also nice to sip on a couple IPAs and catch an easy buzz. Favorite IPA for me for the past year or so has Been Jai Alai from Cigar City Brewing. A 6 pack at 7.5% for ~$12 is a great deal too.
I actually had a virtual beer pong tournament with a bunch of my friends through google hangouts on Saturday and it was a blast. Had some Bud Tallboys for that and it hit the spot
Jai Alai did not live up to the hype for me. Decent IPA, but not really my style for some reason
a fordy
Hoegarden
Exclusively Corona, in part due to the virus that's going around and in part because I missed out on a Florida trip with the guys and feel like it starts to make up for it
While there are plenty of IPAs and other beers in my fridge that I enjoy..
Can't go wrong with a cold Coors Latte
The only alcohol I drink is vanilla extract, but I've heard good things about Yuengling lager
Been drinking mostly hazy / N.E. IPAs over here
If you live in the northeast and like IPAs, try little sip of sunshine from lawson's liquids... one of my favorites, not too heavy and with 8% abv it'll get you there
The best!
Stopped by Lawsons on a day at Sugar. Great tap room.
Montucky Cold Snack
Samuel Jackson. It'll get you drunk. You'll be F8cking fat girls in no time.
Answer 2: snakebites. It's the original FourLoko. 50/50 mix a beer (usually a Guiness) with cider. I find dark beers too bitter and apple cider too sweet but mix the two and you get a real smooth and refreshing beverage. Oh, and with two alcohols have the added benefit of getting you f*ed up faster.
Answer 3: gin + soda (not a beer obviously, and yes, soda not tonic). Gin's real nice and smooth, and a soda doesn't interfere with the taste, plus both gin and soda are low carb. Avoid tonic water if you're trying to keep it low carb.
Can recommend this one too. Otherwise you could opt for a low carb tonic water to strike some middle ground. Currently lounging around with one of these ones at home.
There is also the option to go for vodka and soda, if you are into that sort of thing!
Easy, PBR & Short's Soft Parade
.
All about the zombie dust
Guinness and/or Newcastle.
Red Stripe baby, so good plus cool bottles
haven't tried it, but I love their commercials
Jahh monnn.
Red Stripe gives me the worst hangovers for whatever reason. 4 beers and I feel like death the next day. Tastes great but not worth the pain
Beck's for me. 'Rona will produce a ton of alcoholics.
ain't no laws when yer drinkin' claws.
that or narragansett. a fantastic shitty beer at a better price point.
Troegs - First Cut IPA
Labatt Blue
+1
Voodoo ranger either regular or imperial
Stella. Blue Moon.
Other Half!!! They deliver in BK during the crisis
wiped a case of Corona last week, no prisoners
Pilsner Urquell.
All this Miller/Bud stuff can't even compare to a proper lager
