Heard second-hand that PJT M&A can be pretty fratty/chill, as well as certain groups at BarCap (TMT comes to mind). Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. Note that these were said as positive factors, not negative
PJT is not WASPy at all... pretty diverse.
Respectfully, I never said that they were WASPy. As someone accurately points out below, there is a difference between fratty and WASPy :)
Citi
yes
was asked "how many times a week you go out" in my superday
whats the right answer here
True. I was asked in the interview by the head trader:
"How often do you have sex?"
"Do you do drugs?" I replied no. He told me that I should.
Did he actually say that you should?
MS
MS is not fratty at all lmao
del
Ehh, there's a line somewhere between wanting to work in a WASPy group and getting melodramatically "sick to stomach" from not seeing white dudes on the stage at an event. Reel it in a bit intern.
Have often heard this comment about certain groups at CS. Hard to say that an entire bank is the "frattiest" considering the frequent cultural differences between groups.
Big UVA presence may be why
Barclays 100%, also tons of MM
Jefferies
A little removed from "the street" but probably Stephens.
also suntrust
Daddy Morgan
Barclays Houston
NYC too honestly
Number 1 employer of UT SAEs
Hard disagree... met the whole BarCap team during recruiting...did not get that impression at all; just super chill, easy to chat with fellas (and a couple nice ladies). While I admit the group is WASPy, one of their incoming summers is Indian American.
also nomura
multicultural fratty?
DB levfin, regl, sponsors
fratty as in we partied too hard, got fined/probation and had to sell a satellite house to stay afloat but can't get kids to rush anymore?
Shouldve seen this one coming
In my experience being in a fraternity has helped minimally in my career as far as networking. Less of an old boys club than you think. Can barely name any who even went into IB but plenty who studied finance. And I went to a semi-target
Does fratty mean all white?
Hey! we had a black guy in our frat, super diverse
I think there is one Indian guy in mine
Moelis and HL
deleted
What's the most diverse bank?
JPM
Any BB will have diversity in representation I feel they all stress it
GS, JPM and Barclays. Citi in S&T.
Evercore seems p diverse from what I've seen
Any comment for London? Pan European Monkey
Depends on the group/bank + being fratty here doesn’t really exist per say, people tend to hang out based on where they are from. UK teams are usually a group of quite fun people.
The London equivalent of what OP is getting at is your kind of St Pauls/ Harrow -> Oxford, plays rugby, summers in the Cote d'Azur type
Bump
Moelis if you're an associate. The analysts get crushed, and so do the associates, but the stories I've heard are fucking nuts - just off the wall nights out, great bullpen, Vegas trips and a fratty atmosphere. Even during recruiting, they were one of the only firms to bring a full bar to their firmwide, and they held an invite only at the R&T.
Honestly a bit jealous - headed to another EB and very happy, but the Moke bros can't be beat.
AFAIK, the analysts are like that too, minus the traveling because no free time like you mentioned.
Is this for LA or NYC? I would imagine the Vegas trips are for the LA guys, although R&T is literally right in front of their NYC office. Either way, sounds litty though
what’s the R&T?
Racquet & Tennis Club of NYC
+1 here. One of the frattiest of the banks I recruited at.
What makes a bank fratty? Are the guys who work there former D1 and frat guys or do they party hard and expect the work hard play hard mentality ?
Im not sure any bank is fratty anymore. In my first year as an analyst MDs used to ask on monday mornings who got laid the weekend prior and you shared your war stories in detail. All that has ended. The kids coming in from frats today don't really go that hard. Playing an hour of beer pong in the office on a friday before leaving doesn't make you fratty lmao
Is it weird if an analyst doesn't drink at all?
If you're a girl you can do whatever you want anywhere incl. not drink. If you're a guy BBs are super professional environments so you don't have to. I cannot opine on EBs/MMs
bro just ask which banks have the most white people, no need to hide the fact that u don’t wanna be surrounded by minorities
The minorities are quaking rn
maybe land a job before you start speaking :)
Fratty not always white. In fact the simplest example of fratty is Ed Chen from Silicon Valley
Don't forget about Ed Chambers

Lol go on trying to fit in mate
I heard Lehman can be pretty cool. Don't @ me though
Tobin & Co - welcome, dont @ me
FT Partners is pretty fartty. I love it though. Always great to hang out with the bros and girls at work and afterwards at the parks and clubs (including London, SF and NY).
Most analysts go as a group to all of the events in the town that would be exciting. Office also gets pretty crazy at times with everyone from the analyst to the Ds playing loud music at times.
Based on all of the other posts, I'm assuming I will get Morgan Stanley, right?
I'm sure you do love how farty FTP is
No comment on that. Depends on who you are around. My gym clothes can get pretty stinky and stink up my office so some people might think I have a problem.
Good attention to detail, friend.
Moelis, Citi, and Barclays come to mind. Would also say that most middle markets are very fratty.
Citi/Barclays are the frattiest BB, some groups at BAML and 1 in particular at JPM are also relatively fratty
Headed to Citi/Barclays. I found BAML and GS to be the frattiest, but maybe that was just because of my school.
Since Sage Kelly, all these "fratty" banks nowadays look like nerds
holy shit. Just read about this guy. Is this real?
This guy fucks
Most banks are fratty; people in greek life usually have great social skills and are able to interact with people. They are not awkward lol
Why are there only frat boys in these banks though?
Why does an accountant care about fratty culture at invesment banks? It's not like you will be going to one of those places one day anyway.
