Recruiting On-Cycle for PE Associate with E-3 Visa (Australian)

Just wondering if anyone has particular experience with this? I'm a first year Analyst at a top group at GS/MS/JPM/PJT/EVR who is looking to participate in on-cycle U.S. PE Associate recruiting this year. Graduated from a top target Ivy League but am an Australian citizen (currently on OPT with access to STEM extension as well). However, being Australian means I have access to the E-3 visa, which takes a lot of the pressure off for the H1-B lottery. I'm just wondering if any other Australians have had success recruiting at the PE Associate level with the E-3 visa? While I'm sure most headhunters and PE firms won't necessarily know about the E-3, are they willing to work with you for interviews / hire you as a PE Associate with the E-3 once you explain the visa to them? Or are you bucketed into the same group as other internationals without H1-B and face an uphill battle in terms of less headhunter interest / having to target MFs and meet a higher standard to get an offer due to the perceived risks with sponsorship? Thanks!

Fellow Aussie here who did study abroad in the US.

No one over there knows what the E3 visa is. Even the immigration department barely knows what it is.

I reckon your best bet is to network your way in since once they know you, they're more likely to put up with all the BS of immigration
