Yeah people do it every year. I had probably 5 people in my class that got sucked into the ib recruiting vortex, went through all the steps, got a summer offer, and then realized it wasn’t for them at all for a variety of reasons. These people all got great jobs outside of ib when they returned for second year. One flipped to tech (FAANG), one went MBB, a couple to F500, and the other to a tech startup
