How often do we have to go through this.... trading is the exit opp from trading... so what do you do after your 2 year analyst stint as a trader?.. you trade some more as an associate!.... then when ur done 3-4 years of trading as an associate (and ur good)... you trade some MORE as a VP/D!

During all this time (if you're good) and a buy-side firm wants to pick you up, you lateral over to that firm! Otherwise, you stay on the sell-side and trade....and trade... then....

...trade some more... and maybe , just maybe if you're valuable to your firm, they'll make you MD of the desk one day... and then u keep trading except nowww you get to manage a lot of other people trading.

... see where i`m going with this??

Awesome post FXtrader! on average what percentage is your comp as a trader? .1%?

Lol! 0.1%??? That was a typo right?.... so if an individual trader had a net PnL of +$9,000,000.... the firm will give him a fat bonus check for $9,000??.... lol i.e. less than the signing bonus of an analyst who hasn't even learned how to do a coffee run yet?.... lol hardly

haha! 10 bps??! Jeeez, might as well go be an intern and do lunch runs... the pocket change that traders leave you will be more than that.

You realise this is going to be one of the worst years in recent memory right?

yes, i'm constantly reminded every time i log into blp in the morning. But back to my question, in normal market conditions what is the payout? I'm assuming you ask for more in bull and try to ask for more in bear.
