interested as well...
anything?
It sounds like a support role. I can't see it providing any transferable skills apart from maybe opportunities to lateral to PAG. Definitely won't help with jobs outside of BlackRock in my opinion.
Ive heard the work is rather IT centric
I will be interning in the solution center as a SA don't know to much about exit opps but definitely offers some leverage for internal mobility.
How was your internship at BR Solutions Center? are there opportunities to move from there to Blackrock?
Thanks,
I received a full time offer, and am also interested in exit opportunities..
Solution Center was a fun internship. I have now moved onto PAG FT starting in 2011.
Exit ops from solution center/PAG --> FMA, RQA, PMG, RM
Your role would primarily be an IT role. No real transferable skills (pertaining to finance) will be obtained from your everyday routine.
The posters above are slightly correct. It would benefit you to quickly switch to PAG- But do not be fooled. Very few members in PAG ever end up in the heralded PMG division . PMG and the trading jobs at the rock come few and far between, and most are filled by rock star sell side studs or people at other prestigious buys side shops. On top of that, they will work you like crazy for little pay. Not saying its impossible, but far too many people drink the kool-aid and realize just how f---ng tart it is.
Hey, How do you have so much insight into this position? I also got an offer here so really interested in how you formed your opinion. Thanks~
The advice above is spot on. I had a lengthy chat with someone at BlackRock about a position within the Solutions Center. It is very much a IT focused position. You're basically there to answer any questions about Alladin users may have. I was told that you can move within BlackRock once you're finshed with the program but options are def. limited. Pretty long hours, something like 12-14 hour days in which you start at 7am. PAG should be easy to move into but other divisions would be difficult.
Does this apply to all analysts? What kind of training do you get?
Since your clients are more sophisticated investment managers, the call center should be also more sophisticated??
Would you have time and opp to network w/ BLK?

Is anyone here familiar with Blackrock Trading and Analytics solutions center, what does the job entail? What is their culture like, hours and pay (base+bonus)?
Please feel free to answer here or PM
Thanks a million.
you dont actually do trading.
it's a trading and analytics - solution center. in other words, you tell people what's wrong with their computer when a porno ad popsup in the middle of when they're trading.
i'd actually like to hear if anyone has any input regarding the various groups at BlackRock. they have resume drops on my campus today and I don't know much about their divisions. any info would be appreciated!
Interviewed last spring for PMG. The people there were clearly very smart and the work seemed pretty interesting. I'd say out of all the groups, PMG is by far the one to shoot for, next in line would be PAG. Just remember, BlackRock an Asset Management company, not a bank. Even interning in PMG would be a totally different experience from S&T at a bank. That said though, it would still be great on the resume as they are very well known in the industry.
