Citi, BofA Among Most Hated Companies of 2010
It looks like GM and AIG have something to celebrate in the new year: they didn't make the list of 15 Most Hated American Companies of 2010. Unfortunately, Citi and BofA can't say the same. While the list is published in no particular order, BofA checked in at number 8 and was rated the worst bank of the year. Citi had its own public relations issues, thanks to a bevy of employee lawsuits and the perception of being the weak sister in the TARP parade, but BofA suffered more.
Bank of America also has received large amounts of negative press. There is a great deal of resentment among the public because of the bank’s bailout. In addition, there is Bank of America’s participation in mortgage “robo-signing” activity – a practice that rubber stamped home loan documents to allegedly short-circuit the foreclosure process. Bank of America recently settled with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac with a $2.8 billion payment to cover bad mortgages sold to the agencies by one of the bank’s operations. Bank of America’s stock has significantly underperformed its rivals, certainly disappointing its investors.
Other notable entries on the list include Best Buy, BP, McDonald's, and both United and American Airlines. Satellite TV operators DirecTV and Dish Network both made the list, as did cable TV operator Charter Communications (note: I was a Charter customer for about 5 years and the service was utterly miserable. It seemed like my cable internet connection was out as often as it was working).
While I completely understand British Petroleum being on the list, I'm having a little trouble with McDonald's making the Top 15. Who doesn't love Mickey D's? Also, I get why AT&T is on the list because you guys go on and on about how poor the service is, but why Dell? I've purchased many computers from Dell over the years and they've been great.
So, which companies didn't make the list that should have? Anyone on the list you don't agree with?
Dude, Dells are garbage. Every Dell I've bought has lasted roughly 13 months. The warranty expires after 12.
Dell does suck. Although I still have mine from 2 years ago, I've formatted the HD three times, gotten the screen replaced, and it's a great heating pad when it gets cold. Of course, all replacesments and services were free of charge, so I didn't really complain that much. But still, its a POS
alien wares even though they are over priced last extremely long for what ever reason ;)
Owned by Dell. Not made by Dell.
Airlines, Banks & Fast Food.
The list is not that surprising.
Really Mikey D's made the list?? Someone was smoking some serious crack when they compiled the list... More banks, airlines and I would also add, and think everyone would agree with me on this one, insurance companies. Thoughts?
george you stole my monkey pic, what gives man?
For all you Canadians, I think Rogers needs to be #1 on this list. It is the biggest bastard out of all telecom companies.
Seconded.
With the exception of a small number of startups, they're all bastards. It's an oligopoly, Rogers, Bell & Telus control 95% of the market.
I hate how the general American public is retarded. My sister orders Times magazine (I think she gets it for free), and whenever Im over I read it for shits and giggles. The people who write that magazine are the biggest POS Ive ever seen. For example, this week there was an article on how the BCS system sucks. I agree, I think we all should have a playoff system. However it attacks the CEO compensation of the Bowl Games. The author said as long as the CEOs are pulling in 300k then they don't care. He claims if they earn less this benefits everyone. Fuckign retards like this should be shot.
+1 for the poor quality from Dell...
I think McDonalds made it just because of the connection with obesity, etc. just a guess though.
Have always had a good experience with Dell here, maybe they are food in Europe but shit in us?
lol, "food in europe and shit in us".
pretty interesting metaphor.
Dell sucks
