Most people go with adderall these days or vyvanse. It will definitely get you focused but make sure you start studying before you pop your pill because you just might get focused on the wrong things. Different people react to it differently but they are amphetamines(prescription speed).

Great way to make sure you don't fall asleep. If you're getting along okay with out it I wouldn't start.

Stay away from that shit.

Methylphenidate is more similar to cocaine than meth but I am ADD and take Concerta- usually 36 mg. But for me it really helps me through my day. I'll be just moping around the house, easily distracted, and immature. But once I take it is benefitial-I start doing my chores, organizing school work and being productive. If you take it you probably will barely even notice it. Take 36 mg time released pills. If you take me than you should then your just overdoing it. Everyone is different though, they have 18mg, 36mg, 54 mg, 72 mg. You can go into the doctor's and say that you need help with schoolwork and list a few ADD characteristics... There are so many. It's not bad and won't feel good unless you abuse it aka 200 mg

Sums up everything that's wrong with the west if you ask me....why don't you just motivate yourself to work hard and study? I understand people who have been diagnosed with ADD but otherwise I don't see the need for it.

Your quote sums up what's wrong with wherever the fuck you are. We understand the advantages of a competitive advantage, cheating and lying in order to get ahead. Adderall isn't only about motivation; it's about studying for an obscene amount of time with a focus you cannot achieve without it.

And who is still in school? Why was this article posted now?

I'm in London in a different time zone you idiot. I can see all those pills haven't improved your analytical ability. When you get a job in the City/Stree like me then you can talk bud. For the time being get back to your "studying"

I'm going to assume you don't drink coffee.

Why are you blaming ritalin on the fact that people from the western world don't work as hard as asians?

Everyone agrees with you. Asians are on average harder workers than westerners. But that has NOTHING to do with Ritalin. It has to do with the discipline they receive from their parents while growing up as well as the much stringent educational standards as they grow up.

Ritalin is a stimulant/solution to the fact that a lot of people in the West are raised in much lax environments as people in Asia.

Deal with it.

I think its use is more widespread than you would think. I personally knew more than a few people who took similar drugs to get an advantage during HS and Uni. While I don't condone it either, it definitely makes for a competitive advantage--the science behind it is quite simple.

My friends blow lines of the stuff during finals as well as take it orally. So many of my friends are prescribed that procuring some is fairly easy. I am disgusted by the whole act of doing it...seeing my friends openly complain about having a hard time finding study pills is just weird.

I'm Irish thank you very much, and I work in London as a credit analyst. The West is full of this crap, its why we're being eaten alive by the Asians who can delay instant gratification for good hard studying. If you need to rely on pills or stimulants then you are going to have a tough time adjusting when your body/brain becomes desensitised to the high you get from these things initially.

You are an Irishman, working in London, who roots for a Russian hockey player who plays in Washington D.C.?

I was just surprised to see how many of the students at my university are snorting this stuff. Personally it's not something I do or condone. It is however slightly tempting seeing how productive my friends are who take it. They can work for a 20 hour period with high concentration if they keep taking every 6 hours. I would consider taking it if I was it a very bad position a few nights before an exam but it would only be lack of preparation that would cause the need in the first place.

How do you get a presciption for this stuff if you dont actually have the ADD?

Pretend you have "the ADD". Go to the interwebz, find 3-4 symptoms of ADD, and then say you have those symptoms.

ADD is quite controversial; I don't think there is any REAL way of defining (example: There is no way is testing your hormones or anything and finding ADD). From my experience ADD is like being gay, there is no REAL way of proving you have ADD

Is it really that risky? Honestly if they prescribe this medicine to children can it really be that bad for you as an adult??

Probably not. The drugs haven't been around long enough for long term studies on cardiovascular health- stimulants of any kind tend to increase blood pressure, which over time will affect heart health. With that said, non-abusive use of these drugs hasn't shown to have significant health effects in the short to medium term. There are obviously side effects though...

I don't even drink coffee bro, don't even take artificial protein supplements for working out. Fuck that noise, America is addicted to prescription drugs and i'll be damned if i'm one of those Americans, for those saying OMG competitive advantage, cut the bullshit, you guys are weak. I could understand doing it in a real rough week in banking but regularly? really? I see kids at my Uni majoring in like business taking adderall during finals week, are u kidding me? You fucking major in marketing what the fuck makes u think you need to pull an all-nighter? I feel alot of these kids do it because its become the cool "OMG IM A COLLEGE KID WHO NEEDS TO STUDY ALOT" thing to do.
