Offer Decision: Piper Jaffray, Rothschild, RBC, Mizuho, Nomura

My friend has SA IBD offers at Piper Jaffray, Rothschild, RBC, Mizuho, and Nomura in NYC. How would you rank these firms? She's interested in FT BB and PE exit opps. Thank you!

I'd say Rothschild. Your "friend" would also be fine at Nomura or Piper, assuming she liked the groups there. Mizuho might be a little tough because because its more foreign and not a typical feeder to PE.

Are you going sign the offer letter for your "friend" also

The answer to your question is 1) network 2) get involved 3) beef up your resume 4) repeat -happypantsmcgee WSO is not your personal search function.

I say Nomura. They've been making moves like Silvio Berlusconi! I really think they will go places.

Rothschild, RBC and Nomura can all be leveraged to a BB. However, you/ she should DEFINITELY consider the fact that she might not be able to jump ship and should therefore take the firm of the 3 she feels she could hang with for 2+ years

With smaller banks groups can make a big difference if you have any say/guarantee. For example Mizuho has some good groups/specialties (project finance, Latam, Asia) but overall would be pretty low on that list.

You can't beat Financial Aristocracy lawl. In London, I'd actually consider Rothschild over GS, too.

Why? Is RS really that strong in LND?

Well, the impression I've been getting from RS is that they don't miss out any deals in Europe. They're obviously much smaller than many BBs but as an analyst you still work on mega (and smaller) deals and have more exposure than at a BB. Additionally, I find that they want to focus more on building long-term relationships. Same thing more or less applies to Lazard which is particularly strong in France.
