Thoughts on Fashion Belts? (Ferragamo, Gucci, LV, etc.)
I've never seen anyone wearing Gucci or LV belts (or even Hermes) but I constantly see Ferragamo belts. So what are your thoughts on this?
Is Ferragamo ok but Gucci and LV not?
What Kind of Belt Should I Buy for Work?
Generally, our users feel that LV, Gucci, and Ferragamo belts are acceptable as long as they are not too outlandish. However, some of our users shared that you should not worry too much about the brand and just purchase a simple leather belt that looks classy.
Some of the more subtle LV/Gucci belts are okay. Personally, I wear a LV belt almost every day and looks just like every other belt in the office, aside from the slightly different pattern. the epi leather belts are nice, and def not flashy.
I saw some dude with a gamo belt on, the one with the distinctive buckles. I laughed. Wear normal stuff, nothing crazy. I think I get my belts from BB on sale or whatever.Brown, Black and Cordovan. Silver buckle. Done.
When I have an important meeting I rock an understated black bvlgari calf leather belt with white gold buckle, looks great and I get plenty of compliments on it but you can’t tell the brand unless you asked me. On regular workdays I use a reversible no-name black/brown leather belt with stainless steel buckle, color to match the shoes.
Most Analysts in my office wear either Ferragamo or Gucci belts to match their shoes.
Just go to Nordstrom or J. Crew or Macy's or Neiman Marcus or Polo or Marshall's or TJ Maxx and buy a decent looking leather belt. They even make reversible ones so you can get brown and black all in one. No one cares what brand it is.

I never really give much thought to belts...I might be wearing a high end suit, but my belt? I think I have one from Macy's. As long as it's not flashy, it's fine.
I have a Ferragamo belt and I also have a $20 belt from kohls. They look no different
Exactly. I got my current job wearing a belt from Walmart. Just don't get something with a golden "H" hermes buckle and you're good.

There is a guy in the group across our floor who wears an Hermes H belt every fucking day. The ultimate in douche attire
don't be a bitch
I think when you're a second year analyst, you can start wearing Gucci or LV. Ferragamo is just as nice but less flashy so appropriate for first years. Hermes is ok if you are an associate.
suspenders
I personally don't like wearing flashy belts. Ferragamo is better than the rest. I have an LV one from my uncle and I hate wearing it, too showy.
Hi.. Im looking for a gift for my fiance for his bday ::) .. And im sooo confused..Ive decided on getting him an lv belt and im debating between two of them, the 'lv utah leather belt' and the 'lv reversible calf belt'. The first one has a bronze/gold lv symbol , the other has a silver lv symbol. My fiance is 26 years old. He wears a lot of formal wear so i want the belt for formal use. So which one of the above two belts would be better ? Basically im pondering over the color of the lv symbol, either to take the silver or the gold/bronze one since the belts almost look the same apart from the buckle color. Any suggestions? :)

be different!
Saw a girl in the BB cafe with a Hermes belt yesterday, for a guy definitely a no-go. Mine was like $50, Geoffrey Beene lol

What are some popular brands of belts for analysts?
Black and brown, match belts to shoes. No one gives a sh*t about what brand your belt is.
fucking loser
iCare
Make sure you get an expensive one because they will probably check it when you get there... ;)
Allen Edmonds makes good belts.
some of the questions asked on this site makes some of you guys look like dweebs. who cares about belt brands
decent looking black and brown belts are all you need
braided
Correct me if im wrong, but you def should not walk in wearing a huge buckle belt esp at the SA or Analyst level.
Im sure this is fine, get a black and brown

Thin black belt.
That's it.

I personally appreciate a nice looking, quality belt as part of business attire.
Can anyone recommend a few particular brands that may be suited to those in entry level positions? I'm looking for something that won't be too flashy, but will look good with a suit or slacks.
Price doesn't matter too much, as I go for quality, but I'm not looking to shell out $500+ for an exotic or anything along those lines.
Just buy a damn belt that holds your pants up & matches your shoes
Torino
Bump

Just make sure it's quality leather and not bonded leather junk. I accidently bought such a belt a while ago, and it's crap. Doesn't last long, so comes actually more expensive in the long run.
You can go with Tommy Hilfiger, Armani Jeans or Hugo Boss.
Just adding to the above list: charles tyrwhitt
Allen Edmonds or BB on sale. Good quality leather.
Second Allen Edmonds. high quality, range of colors that match your shoes, and no big emblem or anything.
Third on Allen Edmonds, they are not inexpensive but have some great fashions. Johnston & Murphy for "imitation" Allen Edmonds is also OK.
I have a mix of very nice belts that I "showcase" with certain outfits and less expensive "everyday" wear belts (simple brown and black from major retailers meant to take the brunt of abuse). Most important is to buy a belt that matches your shoes. Not "could match", a good match. Don't drop $100+ on a quality belt that doesn't have a decent pair of shoes to go with it thinking that because it's expensive you can wear it with anything. This is especially true of brown shoes, if you've buying a brown belt to match them either buy them together or make sure it is the same shade.
Two years ago when I was still in undergrad, I went to TJ MAXX and walked outta there with three belts for $40.. They are still the only ones I own.
Is the "H" belt suicide? (Originally Posted: 02/26/2013)
I see Ferragamo belts all the time, but I dont think I've ever seen someone wearing the H belt (Hermes). Is this a case of nobody cares what belt you wear...?
Is this the only thing you care about? Enough of these threads... You are clearly just trying to garner attention at this point.
What about x belts?
Or wwe championship belts for that matter
H for Hermes on a belt is a little douchey....H for Harvard on a belt is über-douchey. I would go for that instead (unless you didn't attend Harvard of course).
What makes the Hermes douchey and the Ferragamo one not douchey?
The H
The fact that there is a giant H on your belt, and that you need people to recognize that your belt is made by Hermes.
wear a C belt (chastity belt)
I've found that most people that rock the H belt do it solely to distract from what they lack just south of the H
Get a regular damn belt
I wouldnt wear the H belt as my everyday belt. But only from time to time.
just stick with suspenders
Please, don't
Your obsession with clothes is mind boggling. If you paid as much attention to how your work looks in comparison to how you look you would be promoted already.
no more threads about clothes from me
Ok the H belt alone may seem a little bit douchey but what about the combination of the H belt and the suspenders ? Check out the outfit I wore for my first day on the job : http://flic.kr/p/e3YqTQ You gotta let everyone know what a Big Swinging Dick you are !
belt seems too small for those pants
I don't think that I would ever buy a belt that expensive regardless of how much money I had. How much better can they hold your pants up than a belt that costs
Wow....

for that money, you'd want something that looks a little more than a $10 belt no? Maybe something with some subtle patterns. Its fine otherwise, a bit shiny for my taste.

A brown crocodile belt imo looks nice with grey or tan suits. I wouldn't wear a black one.
absolutely not
No. It looks like shit.
Never in my life have I ever looked at someone's belt. The shit some people care about is beyond me. I don't care what shirts you buy, what ties you wear, what pants you buy, or what shoes (ferragamo or payless) as long as they fit and you're not a fucking idiot.
What do you guys think of this one?

(it's from Cartier)
Only purchase it for quality. Suits and shoes are one thing your belt is likely to be overlooked.
It has no difference from Luxury and common belts.
Just need to look confident, with brown or black full grain, sleek, but don't need to be expensive
The fact that you asked this question shows you have a problem. For real though just make sure its strong enough to Epstein yourself after your BF dumps you.
Same as shoe color.
