1. Summer Intern - Wealth Management Interview

Process Description

Professor met w/ me in his office to "vet" people interested in Internship opportunities. Got a call a week or so later from a manager at the local office. Was more of a general interest/fit conversation, lasted about 15 minutes. Invited to meet for in person interview (not at office). The interview was more of a conversation asking about my interest in finance/business, my background, and then information on what the role entailed, how long it would be, etc. It was about 3 conversations over the course of a week.

AllianceBernstein Sample Interview Question:

"Where do you get your drive from?" It didn't even occur to me that this might be a "test" question at the time. I answered simply: my parents.

2. Client Group Summer Intern Interview

Process Description

Started off with a 1 on 1 interview on campus (all fit questions, one "How would you invest $1 mil"), then a Superday in NYC that was 5 face to face interviews with VPs/MDs, and a group case study where we were given a hypothetical business problem and had 1hr to make a presentation about our solution and present it to a VP.

Sample Interview Question at AllianceBernstein:

If you had $1,000 to invest, how would you invest it? This is somewhat of a trick question because $1,000 is actually pretty hard to invest (could only buy a few shares of like 10 stocks max).

3. Associate Interview

Process Description

First met with the hiring manager. Then met with the team manager and two senior associates. Was extended an offer during the second round.

Example of Interview Question at AllianceBernstein:

Describe a project that you are most proud of... What interests you about wealth management? Describe your leadership experience...

4. Associate Portfolio Manager Interview

Process Description

Very efficient, from first introduction to offer letter took about 1.5 months. I interviewed with 5 people, 2 on the first interview and 3 on the second.

AllianceBernstein Interview Question Example:

If a lily-pad increases its size by 50% each day, and by day 48 the lily-pad has covered the entire pond, how many days did it take to fill 1/2 the pond? Answer: 47.

5. Compliance Analyst Interview

Process Description

Fairly straight forward. Had an initial phone interview with a recruiter. Which lead to an onsite interview with two managers. The process took less than two weeks. Still waiting to hear back from them.

Sample Interview Question at AllianceBernstein:

Walk me through your resume? Are you proficient in Excel? Why our firm? Why the location? Easy interview, nothing out of the ordinary.
