Please describe the interview / hiring process.
I got into the company through a referral to a current employee. Then I had a first round screening with the employee who I was referred to. He asked me solely personality questions, about what my strengths are and what I am looking for. I prepared for the interview by understanding what exactly BNY Mellon does and what services they provide, and where I wanted to be in the company. Then I got a second round interview, where I met 5 employees over the span of 4 hours. This was in the asset services department. The questions were primarily personality based: "Tell me about yourself" "Read me through your resume." The interesting interview came from the 2 Managing Directors. The first one asked what I learned in school and asked me technical question accordingly. For instance, I said I learned about options, and he told me to draw the 4 option graphs. I said I did a lot of valuations and he told me to run through a DCF. The next managing director was in a rush, and simply asked me "why should I hire you" and "how do you work as a team." Teamwork is really important at BNY Mellon, so have that prepared. Overall, know what you want to do, know your story, and be passionate. Technicals may come in handy, but are not soooo important.
