Please describe the interview / hiring process.
A surprisingly laidback process, would've been "good" had it not been for one particularly awful interviewer. A little more informal than the other firms; I go to a top target MBA and both McKinsey and Bain reached out a little more than BCG did. They offered a case workshop to those who hadn't done internship recruiting, and an office visit to have a quick chat with a consultant. Virtually no networking required. Most of this stuff is for show, they are primarily giving interviews to people on the basis of their resumes, and then the process is also very dependent on the case. There are official 'fit' questions but this is all about the case. One case interviewer was incredibly unpleasant; she clearly didn't want to be there at all, couldn't wait to get the job over and done with, almost threw one of the exhibits in my face, and as you would expect from all this, there was no ice-breaking in the interview either. She just launched straight into some pretty awkwardly formulated behavioral questions. The other interviewer was noticeably more pleasant and diplomatic.
