Interview
First-round consisted of a phone interview with an alum from my university. Overall covered interest in the company, why IB and where a lower middle market internship fell in my priorities to building out a career, there or otherwise. In person consisted of standard technical questions, accounting, valuations and deal process, with standard fit questions.
Interview Questions
- Highly conversational interview piece = Truly just being able to walk through a full, standard conversation that didn't contain finance. Easy to get caught up in technical and standard fit questions, and forget a firm, particularly this small cares about personality, as there is very tight knit teams.

- Walk me through the deal process = Not the 400 guides deal process, but the more realistic process, tailored to the lower middle market. A deal does not close at LOI, rather, searching for recognition that a deal extends into buyer due diligence, which can drastically push final close date back.

Two Round in person interview, one was entirely behavioral and with the COO, and the second interview was with a three person group comprised of two associates and one vp.
Interview Questions
The most difficult question asked was when they asked me to describe what I would do in a situation where you need to evaluate a small private company in a niche sector, where there are minimal previous transactions and no similar public companies. The specific company was to evaluate a small niche drone company which has no similar competitors. The other major questions asked included the questions from the vault guide such as standard DCF walkthroughs, types of valuation, and behavioral and fit questions. Overall the interview was relatively simple.

Interview
Got referred to a VP at the firm, the VP took many weeks to schedule an interview. Was not available when I got there and no one at the firm knew either. Questions were pretty easy, standard behavioral/fit based questions. Not a single technical question.

After my interview, I followed up multiple times but didn't get a response. Very unprofessional...
Interview Questions
Not very difficult interview questions. All were pretty easy. What would be 3 traits that an investment banking analyst would need to be successful? What do you know about our firm? What about investment banking really interests you?
