Valuations & Business Modeling Summer Intern
General Interview Information
Interview Details
Applied to EY's general application on my university's handshake (Top 25) and then filled out my preferences (I listed TAS Valuations as my first preference). This was back in August.
A month later (towards the end of September) I got an email that said I would be moving forward in the process, I now had a HireVue to complete as well as a scheduled Skype video interview. I actually did my Skype interview before completing the HireVue, so it might not even matter if you get the second round, as long as you complete the first round in reasonable time (I do know that managers DO WATCH these hirevues so def don't skip).
24 hours after the Skype I got an email for the Superday (notified 10 days in advance).
EY Flew me to NYC and we had drinks at a bar the night before the Superday. Managers were there and even executives that I would end up interviewing with/seeing during the Superday, so don't get too drunk.
Superday was standard. Briefing and tour of the times square office was then followed by three interviews. 1 on 1 with only higher ups, no analysts or seniors (I had two executive directors and one senior manager). 30 min each.
Technicals:
What is a DCF?
Walk me through a DCF.
What is WACC?
What is cost of Equity?
What are the three valuation methods?
I didn't get any behaviorals because my interviewers were literally so cool that we smashed some technicals and then talked about my resume informally and took up the whole 30 min each time. Be ready for them though, I had friends who got basic situational/behaviorals.
All in it was pretty good, I got a verbal offer from one of the directors because we hit it off - but official offers are sent out within 7-14 days. I think if you prepare for basic IB technicals that you will be fine.
