Interview
Had to complete a psychometric assessment that was kind of like an SAT and lasted 3 hours. After a few weeks, I was invited to an interview with a specific team in the business. I actually missed the first interview due to an emergency and then a different one was set up but with a different team. I had one 1.5 hour interview where I interviewed 1-1 with 2 senior managers at the company who manage the team I was interviewing for. Questions were all behavioral/fit, no technicals at all. I recieved an offer about two weeks later for a direct desk placement with the team I interviewed for.

Interview
I applied to a Junior Analyst (L1, front office) position on LinkedIn. A recruiter reached out to me about a week later for a different role within the firm (back office), but I told them I would like to be considered for the role I applied for and they said they'd talk to the Hiring Manager to see if they were willing to interview me, as I wasn't as qualified as their normal applicants but had some skills that the Hiring Manager was prioritizing. The recruiter reached back out to me to let me know that I would be getting an interview. First interview (virtual) with the Hiring Manager mostly involved them explaining what Macquarie does and their role within Macquarie, and how I would be supporting them in my role. This was mostly behavioral, with a few questions to see how familiar I was with financial derivatives. A few days later I got feedback from the recruiter that the first interview went well and that the Hiring Manager would like for me to meet another MD on the team for a second interview. This interview occurred about 1-2 weeks after the first interview and was again mostly behavioral. Shortly after, I received positive feedback and was given the psychometric assessment to complete. After submitting the assessment, I was told there would be two more interviews where I would meet other MDs in different teams that I may work alongside in the future. The first of the two interviews was similar to the other two and mostly involved us getting to know each other, while the last interview was more difficult as the MD asked harder and more technical questions after the usual behavioral questions. About a week later, I received an offer for the Analyst (L2) role from the Hiring Manager. From first application to offer, the process took just under two months (~one step in the process per week). Everyone I spoke to leading up to the offer was incredibly kind and helpful. Culturally, Macquarie places great emphasis on risk management and following rules/regulations. Interviewers will look to see that you are the type of person to pay close attention to detail to avoid regulatory breaches. Macquarie has a fairly flat hierarchy as well, and senior employees are very willing to teach and mentor juniors.
Interview Questions

Interview
I applied directly through the website. I originally found it through LinkedIn. Did not network prior. I received a first round interview with an analyst on the team. Interview went well but heard nothing back for some time. Later received an email that I did not move forward in the process. This was a bit confusing since the interviewer mentioned she liked me as a candidate. I believe they were looking for a lateral higher with a few years of experience.
