Interview
Someone reached out to me to do a quick phone screening over Zoom - everything was behavioral - and then invited me to the superday at the end of the call. They invited me to the office in New York, and I had a networking lunch followed by 5 one-on-one interviews, each 30 mins. I met with two analysts, an associate, and two MDs. The MDs and one of the analysts only asked behavioral questions, but the other analyst and associate asked me technicals (all pretty straightforward from M&I). The group seemed to be very male-dominated, especially in senior roles.

Interview
This was only the first round of the interview process. I applied online to Raymond James to both NY and HOU offices. I got a hirevue request a few days later. soon, i got an interview with an associate at the HOU office. I crammed oil and gas techincals and was able to manage. They were basically accounting questions and energy specific valuation questions as well. know verticals, how certain things affect financial statements, some dcf questions. a few of these were paper and pen questions. know about NAV as well. I asked for feedback and he said "I should take a step back and celebrate." I got a second round request 1.5 weeks later and we will see what happens.
Interview Questions

Interview
Applied online through their career page and got a 1 on 1, phone interview with a VP in the group I was interested in. Phone interview was great with the typical behaviorals and technicals pulled straight from the guides. Got an email a couple days later saying I was moving on to the in-person superday which went like any other typical super day would; 6 rounds, 2 people in each round. Started off with the MD's and VP's which only asked about my background/resume but the VP's were more technical. The more junior interviewers were definitely more technical but nothing you wouldn't see in the guides. Overall, great interview experience and very personable people.
Interview Questions
I was given the light bulb riddle and was also asked a medium-level multiplication question halfway through a behavioral answer.

Interview
At first there was a pre telephone screening interview with an associate of the firm. This interview included general motivation towards M&A and the firm, as well as a brain teaser revolving around a thought provoking question that I had to collect my thoughts about in around 10 minutes and then present them to my interviewer.

The second interviews were conducted via zoom and consisted of two 1 on 1, one hour long conversations with two further associates. The first interview consisted of me having to introduce myself and later explaining the M&A process, explaining a recent M&A deal that I had heard of and producing a one pager company profile.

The second of the two interviews consisted of several technical questions surrounding valuation and also the differences between sell-side and buy-side banking. Technical questions had a strong focus on multiples, while the banking questions primarily referred to how an investment bank operates, how it generates revenue and the different meanings of buy- and sell-side deals for the bank.
Interview Questions
If you had the same company that you value today and in one year with the use of a LTM EBITDA multiple, which one would offer the higher valuation?
Which deals are more important for the bank: sell- or buy-side deals?

The hiring process was relatively straight froward. Consisted of one first round interview & one superday. Both pretty traditional.
Interview Questions
The most difficult question I got asked was to walk me through a DCF backwards. I was totally caught off guard by this.
