Interview
I applied for an Analyst 1 position online and was reached out to by a VP. Had a 30-minute phone conversation (informational) and he moved me onto the MD in his group (informational as well). Had a good conversation with him and was invited for seven 30 minute 1-1 interviews ranging from Associate - Group Head. They were mostly conversational but 2 of them were more technical (DCF, EBITDA, cash flow, etc). Left feeling good but ultimately did not receive an offer. Did not receive feedback but I think it had to do with my lack of experience in the field
Interview Questions
Difficult = Some technical questions about levered/unlevered cash flows. Unexpected = favorite books/hobbies

Interview
Heard back from VP about one month after submitting an application. Scheduled an initial phone interview, which consisted of behavioral and technical questions.
Interview Questions
Comments on Glassdoor suggested that the first-round interview was purely fit, so when there were technicals I was a little surprised.

1. 3 primary valuation methodologies? Which one returns the highest valuations and why?
2. What are the 3 financial statements and how are they connected?
3. Tell me how a $20 increase in depreciation would impact the financial statements.
4. What are 3 ways to improve the returns in an LBO model?
5. Given a merger scenario, asked whether the transaction was accretive/dilutive and to what extent.

1 on 1 Interview
Interview
Very basic, mostly behavioral questions regarding how you work in a team and how I think about certain life decisions. Really try to understand how you think. Two interviews, each 1on1
Interview Questions
The most difficult interview questions I had to answer was to estimate how many golf balls fit in a normal minivan. They were really trying to figure out how I thought about math and estimates.

Another tough question was to describe how the fed rates impact the greater economy. What are the steps from cutting interest rates to stimulating the economy.

Lastly, another question was on the discount rates of different companies, such as tech vs utilities. This was to see if you understood the point of a discount rate

Interview
Went through a 30 min first round interview with managing director. It went great and was offered to come down to Atlanta for super day. Super day consisted of three 30 min interviews. After over a week, I was offered the position.
Interview Questions
Mostly behavioral questions. Some of the questions asked were tell me about yourself, tell me a time you resolved a problem and how, tell me a time you wanted to go a different direction from that of what your teammates wanted to go. Almost no technical questions other than you would value a company's creditworthiness, how to get ebitda, and a couple of other basic technicals. Majority of the interview was just a conversation about yourself, the person you were interviewing with, and what exactly they do.

Interview
Immediate reach out from an associate of the group to set up a call, and one call with background and technical questions.
Interview Questions
Technical questions. How does $10 increase of depreciation affect the statements, walk through dcf, how to calculate WACC for levered and unlevered. Why would a company with the same growth prospects and same EBITDA have a different valuation, the answer there could be earnings surprise, valuable competitive advantage, first mover to market with larger market share. Also dug deep into what was put on the resume and asked questions on certain technical points that were made on the resume. Overall, not the hardest interview but definitely need to be on your game.

Interview
Had two phone calls and then was flown out for a superday. Superday consisted of 6 30 minute interviews and were mostly behavioral questions
Interview Questions
Really typical Investment Banking behavioral questions. Why Banking? Why this group? Why do you want to make a switch after one year? Why do you want to move out to SF? A lot of the process also centered around me talking about what I currently do. Probably to show if I knew what I was talking about. The only real technical question was a three statement question that required me to walk through each statement and how an assets deprecation would show up on all of them. Overall, nothing too tough. Mainly a check on whether youre a good fit

Interview
First round on campus interview - all behavioral questions. Heard back about a week later about the superday.
Second round on-site superday at the SF office. 6 30min interviews with 1-2 people ranging from analysts to MDs. Questions were mainly fit/behavioral with some technicals (pretty simple - DCF, WACC, etc). Had lunch afterwards.
Interview Questions
Unexpected: I was asked about any ethical dilemmas I faced in class or at work and how I dealt with it. I wasn't really expecting a question like this because I haven't seen it in any interview guides or had it asked in any other interviews. I didn't have anything prepared for that so I had to come up with something on the spot.

Unexpected: that one riddle where a hunter goes south, east, and then north and finds himself back where he started, and then he is killed by a bear. What color was the bear? Seemed more like a way to see my thought process rather than if I got it right or wrong.
