What shirt? (Charles Tyrwhitt v Brooks Brothers v TM?)

Same as the title. Which shirt would a nice monkey get?

Shirts preferably uner 45$ a pop.
Charles Tyrwhitt has poor reviews from 2013, wondering whether something has improved/stayed the same since.

TM Lewin has the "nicest" looking shirts to my eyes (placket, fit, etc) but DK

Brooks Brothers is the most expensive. Worth the extra $$$$?

I don't live anywhere near said stores and can't try them on but I'd be a very slim baboon.

Regards and happy Xmas/Holidays! : D

Finally got shipment, while I enjoyed the coloring, I am too built for the extra slim AND super slims but by only in the upper thoracic. Which of their fits do you wear? Would you suggest going to the dreaded "slim" fit (based on The Kavalier videos, I assume this is really just billowy for a leaner guy like me), or do you suggest going up half a size?

Thanks in advance.

Slim fit 100%.

Get it taken in if it's too baggy. Better that then not having your arms and shoulders fit.

I have a ton of CT. I don't bring them to a dry cleaner due to the incremental cost, wash myself, so I get new ones sooner rather than later. I think they're pretty decent shirts. Obvious a big difference between those and my Thomas Pink etc shirts, but for the money I'd take them over most in the range.

The Charles Tyrwhitt "super slim fit" is REALLY impressive--I didn't expect their shirts to be too tight for me, this is a first (for dress shirts. For Bus Casual it was barely staying together but works I think)

The Extra slim (bulkier than super) was still too tight. Would you go up half an inch in collar size or start buying the bulkier "slim fit"?

--edit: yeah I don't need 90$ shirts and can't afford them now anyway. Thomas Pink is great tho

What fit do you use from Charles Tyrwhitt, if I may ask?

I personally think CT's micro weave looks much better than BB/TM. Fits better too (slimmer aesthetic)

CT for dailies and Indochino for custom shirts. Enzo/SuitSupply for affordable, good quality suits.

The first step to looking good in a dress shirt is finding a brand that was designed with your measurements in mind. CT, TML, and BB each have four different options, but who has the time to try on a dozen options? For a free presonalized recommendation, try http://my.wardrobeessentialist.com/measure

Big advocate for BB here, just my personal preference. They can get pricey at times, but if you're willing to keep an eye out, they have a 4 for $199 sale pretty often where you can snag some nice shirts right around your target $45. Also if by any chance you have an AMEX you can get those puppies with 2 day shipping via shoprunner for $0 so you'll only end up paying around $216 for 4 shirts. A steal in my opinion.

Check out Land's End right now (reference: 29/I/2020) because they have 40% regular priced items. Even shipping to Canada I saved a ton of money on new shirts and pants (they will even hem them for you for and 1-2 days on the delivery).

Not the best shirts, but on my budget I sort of consider my work clothes a uniform and as long as it fits and is comfortable I will wear it until it wears out.

It'll be hard to find BB's mainline shirts at ~$45. Don't go for their "346" line. It's their straight to outlet line. I have a few mainline shirts, and I think they're great, but I haven't been able to compare them with similar products to check for value. IMO BB is somewhat overpriced in general though. Their 1818 line suits are nice but are certainly not worth the $1,000 MSRP, and I would assume the same goes for their shirts. Their shirts aren't made in the USA anymore (mostly Malaysia I think besides the oxford which are going abroad now) and their bankruptcy is forcing them to move their suit production abroad too.

Fit wise, BB in general goes for a looser fit. I'm not slim at all, but their slimmest fit me somewhat okay, so if you're really slim, it may not be the best brand.
