Not IB but as a SA markets side, this has been my concern as well. After speaking with 2-3 analysts about conversation rate their years what I've gathered is it largely depends on the group/desk your placed into as well as firm performance. While the overall conversation rate may lower, if a specific group is looking to hire FT, the overall conversation rate won't matter as much as long as you are in that group. It also widely varied from summer to summer pre-pandemic as I heard it was 60% in 2018 and 80% 2019 for a certain firm. There's also been a lot of mobility recently within the street because of the pandemic which means more groups will be looking to fill those spots through interns as were approaching summer. I know this is only a 2-3 sample size so apologies but this is what I've been told from full-timers.

You can’t control that variable. But you can work hard and try to learn as much as possible during your 10 weeks. You can also update your CV and start applying by the end of Aug/early Sep time as a backup plan.
