Sadly, these things happen from time to time. Without a visa you can not legally work in the US and the company would have to offer you a location outside of the US. Toronto is a common one and you can come back on L1 after one year. Normally they'd want you to be in the same/similar time zone.

A company normally doesn't "owe you anything", but I would appeal to them and say that this was not your fault. If they are big enough they should find a new location or role for you.

UK visas are experiencing a lot of delays too. I'm a continental european still waiting for my UK visa and I'm supposed to start next monday

Also, I would not expect the bank to give a shit. Last year, JPM London literally cancelled internships to those who didn’t get their visa on time. WB London canceled some internships this year too. Barclays London is offering internships in a different city (ie Paris).

It depends on your passport, you might have work rights or fast track stream visa processing in other financial hubs.

I guess they would relocate you at your home country and maybe some of the places with lax visa like you mentioned above.

OP here, I was grateful enough that my bank made similar arrangements for my summer internship. It’s just so frustrating that visa delay is biting me in the ass again. I don’t even know how to ask my group head for alternatives again lol.

OP since you mentioned EB RX, if this is HL or PJT I know people who were moved from the US to the london office due to visa issues

You need a visa for London as well and there are delays for many banks at the moment

US immigration service is seriously questioning why u need at least a bachelors for IBD….
