Seminar
Just saw that Indiana started another investment banking program called the investment banking seminar w around 40 students. So far I see kids on linkedin placing at firms like Lazard, BofA, and Guggenheim. What does this mean in terms of recruiting out of IU?

Just graduated. Basically it’s the kids that didn’t get into the IBW that are still interested in recruiting banking. But if you have an ounce of networking skills and do well in the feeder class you would get into the IBW.
If that’s the case, how are they placing so well? Why not just increase the size of the IBW?
Makes sense. Kids without an ounce of networking skills can place at Lazard, Guggenheim, PJT, BofA.
Ibw has gotten so competitive that the new seminar is just described as students who would have made it in past years
Seminar is for candidates who didn't get into IBW. Placement has been solid. A lot of the top placements Lazard/PJT/BOFA were from diversity and candidates with connections. IBW continues to place well in NYC and Chicago (some in San Francisco). Seminar is a great but has forced a lot of us to create a lot of the opportunities
No selection process is perfect. Whether it's for college, recruitment, etc., there is a minute difference between candidates. From what I understand, the seminar gives students an equal opportunity to fight for top spots though they did not get into the workshop.
