Email Networking and S&T to IB?

I'm in my first year of university at a non-target, and networked my way into a S&T internship this summer through Linkedin. I want to move into IB next year and am having shit luck in networking via LinkedIn. I have some people in IBD as connections but have only gotten one to respond/set up a phone call.  I was wondering if there's a better way to do this by email or something? I'm considering finding a bank's @ for email and then just guessing on the format to send out cold emails to some of my connections and other people in IBD. Any advice?
