2017 NHL Stanley Cup Finals Thread

Since my St. Louis Blues unsurprisingly were eliminated, we are left with the Penguins and Predators in the final round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. With the series tied 2-2 heading back to Pittsburgh, here are some thoughts about the series going forward.

Penguins Goalie Controversy
Should a seasoned veteran like Marc-Andre Fleury, with 115 GP and a 2.65 GAA be on the bench in the place of a 23 year old with a fraction of the Stanley Cup experience? Fleury let up 4 goals in the 1st period of the Eastern Conference Finals Game 3, and hasn't returned since. After two straight Pittsburgh losses in Nashville, (1-4 and 1-5 respectively) it may be time to shift the momentum with a goalie change.

Guentzel Nearing Records
Jake Guentzel has been exciting to watch this series, chalking up 13 goals and 7 assists during the postseason. He stands one away from both the most goals and the most points by a rookie in the playoffs. I'm excited to see if he can reach this on home ice.

Stellar Nashville Defense
With the acquisition of P.K. Subban to supplement Josi and Ellis, the solid defense from Nashville may be what it takes to play against Pittsburgh's top goal scorers Crosby and Malkin. Shutting down these two players gives Nashville a good shot at hoisting the cup.

What are your thoughts about the series?
