2018 GS Undergraduate Camp vs Barclays Sophomore Springboard
I just received notice that I got accepted to the GS Undergraduate Camp and the Barclays Sophomore Springboard Program. The GS runs from May 14-16, the Barclays from May 16-17. Does anyone have any insights/experiences at either? The GS program offers networking opportunities for all groups, workshops, etc, while the Barclays program offers early interviews for the 2019 internships. Also have a final that is practically impossible to reschedule on the 17th. I will appreciate any advice and insights.
I got into both as well although I’ll only be attend the Goldman one. Why not go to both? Also, if you’re female, ask Barclays to move you to May 2-3.
Sadly the Goldman one ends on the 16th at 4:15pm, the Barclays one starts on the same day at around 9am. They both say that you need to attend the full events if you are RSVPing. Definitely can't ask them to move it, I'm a male.
goldman implied in the email that they might include interviews, especially if you already have an offer. If GS gives you an interview slot, I would try to interview with both. I'm sure they'll be flexible. recruiting is crazy rn
I would go GS. Went to the UG camp back in the day (it was four days at the time not two) but imagine it is pretty much the same. It is a direct springboard into their internship program. If you do well at the camp you'll def get an accelerated first round but it might not be in the division you think.
If you don't mind me asking, what year was it when you attended the UG camp? Lots of things seem to be changing recently, such as the recruiting cycles, so I was wondering how recent it was.
Summer 2015 (not that long ago haha) but yeah things are certainly changing in the recruting world since then. They do recruit for the front office at the event as that was what I was recruited into (read: IB, S&T, AM). When I was there we did an informal first round at the end of the camp as well - but again it was a longer program then. They do introduce you to all divisions at the firm both revenue generating and the federation (the back office).
I think you should go to the Barclays event, more directed focus and guaranteed interview. I went to the GS event and it wasn't only just IB more middle office work, and it doesn't always guarantee interviews
Hm, well in that case, did you hear of any cases where they gave interviews at all (in regards to the GS one)?
