2019 RE PE Interview

Hey y'all,

I am heading into the interview process for an REPE firm based in Chicago (Think: Harrison St./Walton St./LaSalle). The current position offering would be for a first year analyst position within the firm.

It would be great if I could get some of yall's input on the matter. Essentially, how technical could the interviews get? I do not expect anything too difficult aside from some fundamental real estate topics. Moreover what should I generally expect from the interview process? More a kin to banking with super days and perhaps an excel test? Or a more lax and behavioral type interview?

Additionally, I am based in Texas while the position would be in Chicago. What would be the best way to approach this "disadvantage" and how can I stand out among the top tier mid-western candidate pool?

I appreciate any insight that anyone can spare. Apologies if I am being too vague in my ask.

Thank you in advance.
