2019 Summer Analyst Program for Hong Kong/Singapore

As some of the firms have already started accepting applications for 2019 for HK/SG, I thought it's the time to start this topic for those who are specifically interested in working in HK/SG.

What's your background? What division(s) are you applying (not limited to IBD)?

I would say it is just as competitive, if not more competitive. Because lots of students in HK/SG study in the top unis abroad (G5+Ivy League) and apply back in their home countries. And each bank needs to have certain spots for local applicants (usually from target schools like HKU/NUS and also PKU), which leave

thanks for the input, are you currently interning at HK? Definitely interested in BBs over here but still wondering if UBS and CITI are still worth joining after recent SFC punishments. Been told that BBs offer higher wages than Chinese firms but in terms of deal flow only Goldman, MS, and JP seem to be still on top of the league table. Also I've heard that BNP is OUT, have you heard about how the EBs are doing in HK?

I think UBS is currently appealing to the decision of being suspended as an IPO Sponsor for 18months. Personally think that the rep of its IPO business will defos get affected to some extents, although UBS has been the top 3 performers in this sectors in HK. And yes, I read somewhere that Chinese firms have takes up 6 places in the top 10 deal flows in HK for several years and the top 3 BBs in Hong Kong in terms of deal flows (before SFC) should be GS MS UBS. Not sure about the wages although lots of people have said the same thing, but one thing I can say for sure is that the working atmosphere at CICC BOCI etc. is not the same as BBs.

UBS and Citi are fine. Citi pays some of the best bonuses on the street and has the distinction of having an actual balance sheet in HK vs. the other BBs (commercial banking arm).

To be honest, even DB is fine (despite the negative press) - just avoid Barclays.

Depends on what you wanna do really. If you wanna do Leveraged Finance or DCM, MS/GS/JPM are not the best firms for it. ECM/M&A - can't go wrong with MS or GS for sure.

The top 3 BBs in HK right now are now GS, CS and MS I'd say. (UBS was once up there but they've fallen off the map)

Hey, guys, I received Hirevue for MS HK IBD and JP HK IBD a few days ago! I will be doing the interview very soon. Has anyone done the interview for MS and JP for HK IBD? Any inputs would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

@cgx95 Well..it took me 2-3 weeks before getting the Hirevue invite. If you just handed in your application, you should wait. And my friend who goes to NYU Stern got the invitation as well. May I ask if you go to a target school?

Hi, did you get the video interview of BAML IBD three days after your completed the online test? Do you think it is automatically sent out after the online test or somebody is really reading the resume.iThank you!
